He was born in a small town of Cranbrook (Southeast British Columbia) and moved shortly after to Terrace (Northern British Columbia) where he spent nearly 18 years. Eventually he made it to Vancouver, where he is currently completing his 4th year of Dietetics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Seamus is currently serving as an executive co-chair of UBC’s Dietetic Student Community where he supports UBC DC student representatives plan, organize and advocate for events around topics of diversity and inclusion, nutrition, and professional development.<br />

Seamus has a history of working on advocacy around both nutrition and social justice issues through working on local United Way campaigns, Indigenous-focused research, and local food security initiatives. In his role as the food security facilitator for the Ktunaxa Nation, he advocated for the inclusion of at-risk single adults into the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) along with developing food literacy programming rooted in Ktunaxa culture for the FMNCP participants. Seamus believes that youth need to be at the decision-making table of municipal, provincial and federal policy debates, especially around food and nutrition. Currently, Seamus works as the Program Assistant for the Indigenous Public Health Certificate (IPH) Program at the Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health. In this role he advocates for improved access to Indigenous public health training to front line workers in Indigenous communities across Canada. This advocacy has led to the development and creation of the first online course in the IPH program, titled “Pandemics in Indigenous Communities: Before, during and after COVID-19.” <br />

During her over 30 years as a dietitian she has worked in a variety of areas, including acute and long-term care, research, foodservice management, industry consulting and academia. In 2013 she managed the project that resulted in the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and Practice. She has developed curriculum and taught at several Ontario Universities and Colleges and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Angela also serves on the Board of A Stepforward Foundation, supporting education and health for the indigenous children in the Ecuadorian interior."

<input type="hidden" class="member_summary" value="Seamus is Oneida from the Turtle Clan of the Oneida Nation of the Thames and of Czech ancestry from his maternal side and Swedish and Irish ancestry on his paternal side. He was born in a small town of Cranbrook (Southeast British Columbia) and moved shortly after to Terrace (Northern British Columbia) where he spent nearly 18 years. Eventually he made it to Vancouver, where he is currently completing his 4th year of Dietetics at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Seamus is currently serving as an executive co-chair of UBC’s Dietetic Student Community where he supports UBC DC student representatives plan, organize and advocate for events around topics of diversity and inclusion, nutrition, and professional development.<br />
<br />
Seamus has a history of working on advocacy around both nutrition and social justice issues through working on local United Way campaigns, Indigenous-focused research, and local food security initiatives. In his role as the food security facilitator for the Ktunaxa Nation, he advocated for the inclusion of at-risk single adults into the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Coupon Program (FMNCP) along with developing food literacy programming rooted in Ktunaxa culture for the FMNCP participants. Seamus believes that youth need to be at the decision-making table of municipal, provincial and federal policy debates, especially around food and nutrition. Currently, Seamus works as the Program Assistant for the Indigenous Public Health Certificate (IPH) Program at the Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health. In this role he advocates for improved access to Indigenous public health training to front line workers in Indigenous communities across Canada. This advocacy has led to the development and creation of the first online course in the IPH program, titled “Pandemics in Indigenous Communities: Before, during and after COVID-19.” <br />
