This #InternationalMigrantsDay, we celebrate the dedication of women’s rights
organizations to protecting the rights of women migrant workers. UN Women,
with the support from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC),
developed a program to enhance the capacity of Women’s Rights Organizations
toward gender-responsive labour migration governance across Southeast Asia to
champion policies that safeguard and uplift women migrant workers. 💪 What
does the program achieve? It empowers WROs with tailored training and
essential resources, enabling them to effectively advocate for
gender-responsive migration governance. The goal? To ensure safe and
dignified labour migration pathways for all women. Stand with us and support
women migrant workers! Learn more about making migration governance gender
responsive with UN Women: https://lnkd.in/eRGQppr8 Immigration, Refugees and

During the #Beijing30 Regional Conference, H.E. Dr. Ratchada Jayagupta,
Thailand Representative to ASEAN’s Commission on the Promotion & Protection
of the Rights of Women & Children, underscored the importance of the newly
launched ASEAN Guidelines for Developing National Standard Operating
Procedures for Coordinated Response to Violence against Women and Girls.
These guidelines aim to ensure rights-based, gender-responsive, and inclusive
approaches to violence prevention and response, particularly for women and
children in vulnerable situations, including migrant women and persons with
disabilities. This is a significant step forward in raising regional
performance standards to better protect and empower those most at risk. Check

🕊️Cambodia has made strides as a regional leader in the Women, Peace, and
Security (WPS) Agenda, yet structural issues persist. Women are vital to
preventing conflict, fostering recovery, and building peace, but their voices
are too often marginalised in formal processes. To address this, UN Women and
the Ministry of Women’s Affairs Cambodia, with support from 🇨🇦 Canada, 🇬🇧
the UK, and 🇦🇺 Australia, hosted a workshop on 18-19 November 2024,
bringing together key stakeholders to advance the WPS Agenda. 💪✨ 👉 Learn

(Korean below) Thrilled to share that the Korea Women's Society of Architects
and Engineers (KOWSAE) has joined the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles
(#WEPs) community! This milestone, celebrated at the UN Women Centre of
Excellence for Gender Equality (the Centre) in Seoul on November 26,
reinforces our partnership with the private sector to promote gender equality
in the construction industry and workplace. In 2023, the Centre organized a
panel discussion at the Seoul Gender Equality Dialogue, in partnership with
KOWSAE, highlighting women's contributions to city-building and strategies to
enhance their representation in the sector.  🔗 Watch:
https://lnkd.in/dcy2ZcDW   For over 22 years, KOWSAE has championed
initiatives like:  ✅ Professional development programs for women in
construction  ✅ Partnerships with national and international women’s
organizations  ✅ Mentorship programs such as the “We Build a City!” Leaders
Camp  ✅ Promoting ESG social responsibility projects  ✅ Hosting seminars on
construction industry ESG strategies    Park Bo-kyung, President of KOWSAE
stated: "Joining WEPs is not just about enhancing women’s capacities but also
about contributing to a more equitable and sustainable construction sector.
We are committed to collaborating with communities and driving positive

https://lnkd.in/dbcwBUZn
Build a City!’

(Korean below) 🌻 Celebrating Collaboration among three Korean WEPs
signatories for Renovating One-Stop Service Centre for GBV Survivors in
Seoul    On 5 December, the UN Women Centre of Excellence for Gender Equality
(the Centre) celebrated a remarkable collaboration among three Women’s
Empowerment Principles (#WEPs) signatories in the Republic of Korea.
Together, they contributed to the renovation of the Seoul Sunflower Centre,
creating a space that embodies compassion and sensitivity for survivors of
gender-based violence (GBV):    - Korea Midland Power Co., LTD donated KRW
20,000,000 as part of their ESG initiatives.  - Korea Women's Society of
Architects and Engineers (KOSAE) provided expert consulting and interior
design.  - NEFS Lab completed the renovation in close collaboration with the
Centre’s staff, reflecting their concerns and needs.    Located within Seoul
National University Hospital, the Seoul Sunflower Centre offers a
comprehensive one-stop service for survivors, including medical care,
psychological counseling, legal aid, investigation, and social services—all
under one roof.    The newly renovated space now provides a safe, welcoming,
and home-like environment for survivors of GBV, with service users already
expressing their appreciation for the thoughtful design with a
victim-centered perspective.    This initiative--called the Urban Light House
Project--is a shining example of how the WEPs community can drive meaningful
change through collaboration and commitment by implementing the WEPs
Principle 6: Promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy.
Congratulations to all involved in creating a sanctuary of healing and
justice for GBV survivors. Truly WEPs in action! .
