Frontend | The instant web revolution has begun! "wow... that's a big
statement Shai!" I know, but this statement is based on a research and
thorough analysis of the past 26 years of web development, the recurring
patterns that affected the transition between web technologies and the
current trends and direction things are going towards. All signs show that
weā€™re at the beginning of a new generation of web frameworks.. and the first
framework of this new generation is Qwik, which has reached v1.0 "Why should
we care about it?" Qwik allows JavaScript developers to write any size app
and have it load instantly, with no extra effort. It completely eliminates
the need to manually optimize your app for performance, and that pays
dividends especially as your app grows. Businesses gain better SEO ranking,
conversions and User experience while developers can focus on building
features instead of chasing after performance issues. Basically, Qwik
introduces the same revolution that video streaming brought to the world. So
if we don't want to become the next ""Blockbuster"" in the Netflix story, we
need to understand the next evolution in web development and how to adapt to
it. In this talk, we'll cover the past, present and future of web
development, but more importantly, we'll get an awesome introduction to this
new and innovative framework and the cool & new technology behind it.

Backend | Rust truly embodies the idea of a general purpose programming
language. It spans the entire stack, from Linux drivers to web development.
It isn't the perfect language for most domains, but it's a damn good language
for most domains. This flexibility is what makes Rust so compelling: you need
to invest time and effort to master it, but you're rewarded with a tool that
can support you successfully in most of your endeavours. The return on
investment is huge. Over the next decade, I expect Rust to become ubiquitous.
Every developer will be working with it, either directly (by writing Rust
code) or indirectly (by using libraries in other programming languages that
wrap a Rust core). API development is the next ""big"" frontier for Rust:
this talk will walk you through why that is the case and what you can expect
to see in the coming years in this space.

DevOps & Cloud | Twenty years ago our world was a simple place. We had
Python, Ruby, PHP which were "scripting" or "interpreted" languages. Opposite
to them, there were C++ and Java as "compiled" and "fast" ones, hundred times
faster. Now, in 2023, C++ solves the "n-body problem" only marginally faster
than JavaScript. But Python and Ruby are still a hundred times slower. This
is not fair and there are lots of talks on how to make things faster using
PyPy, Numba, CPython, etc. But my talk focuses on the "why" question. It's
about compilers, bytecode, ceval.c, virtual machines, native extensions and
all the reasons why we still hear "Python is slow" or "Ruby is slow" even if
it's not true or doesn't matter.

DevOps & Cloud | Building cloud-native applications is undoubtedly awesome.
However, it comes with undeniable new risks. Next to your own code, you are

Senior Developer Advocate @ AWS IoT

DevOps & Cloud | Managing large and heterogenous IoT fleets is complex and
involves executing sets of operations (workflows), such as configuration
management or over-the-air firmware updates. Integrity is key in rolling out
configuration, bug fixes, and firmware. If integrity is not ensured, hasty
rollouts of fixes to critical bugs and security vulnerabilities or new
features introduce high risk to potentially leave devices in inconsistent
states or bricked. Visibility, control and early evidence of success on a
subset of devices is crucial before rolling out at full scale. Workflows are
often distributed (executed on-devices, as well as other systems), could be
long running and need to survive device reboots, offline behavior and be
rolled back in case of failure. Embedded devices are inherently constrained,
and are not well suited for driving complex and distributed workflows. In
this session we will look at modelling workflows using Finite State Machines
to break down complexity, and introduce an externalized, cloud managed
approach to design, build, operate and remotely orchestrate resilient
workflows, outside of the scope of specific request/response cycles and
independent of device uptime. The proposed design is accompanied by a
concrete example implementation, which is evaluated against expectations such
   as system integrity and observability.
