Yesterday, I attended the Innovation Roundtable® with my colleague Hilmar at the P&G Innovation Center in Brussels. The Innovation Roundtable aims to bring together different industries and multinational companies to learn about innovation best practices, share experiences, and gain #insights.
This time, the topic was "Digital & Transformative Innovation - with Startups." These are my main takeaways:
1. Venture Clienting: Corporates are clients of #startups, so departments/business units need to be made "partnership ready" to ensure efficient cooperation with startups. Thank you Christian Hüttenhein for this really inspiring presentation!
2. #innovation and the need for it should really come from the business unit with their commitment and ownership - instead of proposing startups and new solutions to business units. Olga Peters - thank you for the insights!
3. I had valuable and insightful conversation with Alain Bindels from Roche on how to create #sustainable innovations. We discussed the importance of focusing on the customer problem and not trying to match a solution to a problem that may not exist.
I am already looking forward to the next Innovation Roundtable®. It was truly inspiring to meet so many great and experienced people with various backgrounds!

What a jam packed week it has been!!!
On Tuesday I had the opportunity to join an exceptional lineup of business leaders for the latest Innovation Roundtable® event in London, where we dove into thought-provoking discussions on digital transformation and organizational culture.
Some of my personal highlights included:
Sophie Bialaszewski’s (Lloyds) thoughts on curiosity as the spark for a growth mindset, instilling empathy & helping us know where teams want to go.
Teresa Macchia (Rolls Royce) speaking about having passion for what we do, how our passions can change over the span of our career and the importance of making changes when we find our passion is no longer aligned with our work.
Joel Schmidheiny (J&J) with a turn of phrase that I’ll be stealing!
“It went live without a bang” - we often want to shout about the impact of the transformation that we deliver but actually it’s usually the implementations that are as quiet and non-disruptive as possible which are the most successful!
I also had some really interesting conversations with Andres Calderon (BD), Ruby Patel (BD), Torben Juul Larsen (Vestas), Aileen Machado (Syngenta), Ulrike Richter (Syngenta) and it’s always great to reconnect with GowriShankar Paramasivam (Maersk).

After the workshop it was straight off to one of my favorite places in the world - Dubai - where yesterday I enjoyed a lovely dinner with many of the key players in the innovation ecosystem that we have been building around Aerospace Xelerated in the UAE.
It was great to spend time with many familiar and new faces who are helping us to push forward the future of aerospace in the region. Looking forward to connecting again soon!

Innovation Roundtable® l Sustainability & Circularity
Last week, I had the opportunity by 3M to attend & experience one of the Global Innovation Roundtable® workshops around “Startup Collaboration, Sustainability & Circularity” in Düsseldorf, Germany hosted by Henkel.
The workshop focused on how Circular Economy (CE) has been put forward as a solution based on three core principles: designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems by using renewable materials and energy; through looking into the ability of recycling, designing for durability, and other CE related aspects. If the core business doesn't want it - kill it, it's dead!
After 2 days of Innovation Roundtable® summit at Henkel there is no doubt, that without a collaborative culture, the innovation is dead before testing it.
Sharing insights, learnings and failures from each other, bringing innovative people together facing similar challenges when it comes to sustainability and innovations, was very motivating.
Beside intrapreneurship programs, sustainability embassadors and a venture client team I take inspirational incentives into my working practices.

Honored to have shared the stage with industry leaders at the Startups & Ecosystems for New Business Models Conference in Amsterdam!
The event, organized by Innovation Roundtable® and Shell at the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam brought together a fantastic lineup of Shell Airbus SAP Volkswagen Group Unilever and Siemens speakers.
Connecting with fellow thought leaders and innovators passionate about driving change through corporate innovation and collaboration with startups was truly inspiring.
I was privileged to present on Airbus's approach to building disruptive R&T and innovation capabilities, fostering organizational agility, and nurturing a culture that supports transformative innovation.
We also delved into the importance of fostering win-win collaborations with promising #startups to deliver impactful solutions for corporates.
Hearing the insights and experiences of my fellow speakers only enriched the conversations and left me buzzing with new ideas and connections.
I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in this incredible event and eager to continue pushing the boundaries.

Exactly two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of presenting a keynote at the Innovation Roundtable® event hosted by Holcim in Lyon aimed at Culture of Design thinking, agility & experimentation, where I shared insights on the journey of creating a customer-centered R&D unit. It was great to see so many innovators and thought leaders coming together to exchange ideas and best practices.
In my presentation, I emphasized the importance of involving customers in every step of the innovation process, from ideation to commercialization. This approach not only helps us create products and services that better meet their needs, but also builds trust and loyalty.
Of course, this is easier said than done. We faced many challenges along the way, such as how to engage customers effectively, how to balance their feedback with our technical expertise, and how to manage expectations. But one thing that has helped us tremendously is our co-creation program, which includes physical spaces - labs that are used for engaging customers, but we also have remote meetings.
In these labs, we present our work-in-progress prototypes and are able to discuss and create new concepts with our customers. This process has enabled us to iterate quickly, test assumptions, and get early feedback that helps us make better decisions.

Last week I was invited for a second time to give a keynote at the Innovation Roundtable® in Lyon hosted by Holcim.
I talked about the Journey how to get from output to outcome.
Product roadmaps are often feature factories based on delivering as many features as possible. Where we should be going with Design Thinking and UX is to achieve outcome. But what is an outcome? It’s a change in the world! And how do we get there? The Answer is a simple other questions: If we do a great job, how will we improve someone’s life? If we can’t answer this question, why should we work on it?
Challenge your product roadmap, challenge your design thinking project, challenge your ux design. If we do a great job, how can we improve someones life? Make OUTCOME instead of output!
It was a great event with a lot of inspiring discussions. Thank you Innovation Roundtable® for having me and thank you to the other panelists for your valuable keynote’s Sandra Boivin, Bengt Steinbrecher, Jonathan Tripp, Renaud Castaing and Jiri Vasek.

I had the pleasure to share some insights on venture building in a corporate context at the Innovation Roundtable® in Lyon.
My key tips and learnings for successful corporate venturing are:
- Find the right problem to solve and only then focus on the solution
- Involve your main customers across the value chain throughout the innovation funnel
- Create a shared mindset that stopped ventures are also successes due to saved resources and time down the line

On March the 8th 2023, Innovation DTEK joined the Innovation Roundtable event in Lund University, Sweden.
Innovation Roundtable is a network of more than 100 Corporations where innovation managers can learn best practices from executive speakers. This time Tetra Pak, Volvo Group, Procter & Gamble, H&M Group, Arla Foods, Klabin, Philips and Johnson & Johnson shared their experience how to develop innovative projects with startups. DTEK was the only Ukrainian company present at the event.
Interesting how different businesses in food processing and packaging, car manufacturing, consumer and goods, fashion and also power can use the same approach to develop innovative projects with startups.
Thanks to the organizers Alex Roseno and Vittorio Pennazio, for the opportunity to join Innovation Roundtable this year.

Let me take you through my key take aways from the Innovation Roundtable® on “Innovation and Digitalization for Sustainability”:
Circular business needs new forms of collaboration: Enlarge your view from supplier-customer relations to an ecosystem approach; internally and externally
Transparency and trust are key: Jointly identify capabilities and opportunities on how to mutually leverage them in suitable business models
Circular Economy does not equal sustainability but is an approach which allows to decouple economic growth from resource consumption thereby improving sustainability
The way to a Circular Economy is a transformation: It is not possible to change from linear to circular value chains overnight, but every decision taken today will determine if we reach our net zero goal in the future.

Joined Innovation Roundtable® Summit 2022 and met some exciting innovation champions among large corporations.
Reflection and takeaways:
1. A break for many to stop being the odd one for a day and be among the many who can appreciate the art and craftmanship of creating innovations
2. Among so many innovators and intraprenuers, we still don’t play enough. Although happy for the Climate Fresk game and Ørestad lab around storyboarding
3. My last name sparked a conversation twice today. What if we had a conference only with small groups for half the day to talk about last names? How many real connections would be made?
4. How can these forum become actions for good? We need all innovators at large corporates to work for the good of people and planet. The impact from large corporations will be enough to change our path and stay below 1,5 degree Celcius.
My action is: no matter what I innovate, it will always have a positive people and planet impact

My favorite talk so far here at Copenhagen at the Innovation Roundtable® : Mauro Porcini talking about the ‘Human side of innovation’. In order to drive innovation successfully within a company such as Pepsi, we don’t just need good customer-centric tools, such as #designthinking, but even more importantly ‘unicorns’ - skilled people - who can bring these tools to life. I love his metaphor: Think of DT as a brush. You can’t just hand out brushes and expect your employees to create masterpieces. You can’t give a brush to a tax accountant and expect him to create a Picasso. I have seen this false assumption so many times and can’t agree more with Mauro. Finding the right people assigned to innovation projects makes all the difference. For Mauro these are ‘people in love with people’ who have the ability to dream, share the power of optimism, etc.

Key take aways:
Chinese companies are good at bringing ventures from 1 to 100 whereas western countries can do the step 0 to 1 best.
Foresight management is getting more important for innovation units these days.
To master customer centricity, teams need to look at the full user experience by observing real customers instead of doing desk research.
