Hello My name is David. I am a long time technology enthusiast and qualified
builder of user interfaces, websites and other things. I'm also a gamer, dog
lover and amateur lepidopterist.

MICRO LEARNING CONCEPT


I've always had an interest in E-learning and while I understand there are tools
such as "Power Point", I wanted to try and create something in browser. We have
all done the "Butterfly life cycle" in primary school; so I wanted to try and
"tech it up".

The technologies used were simple HTML & CSS with some basic Adobe Photoshop
techniques for cutting out wings and resizing assets.

WCAG E-LEARNING


I've helped set up and maintain assistive technology in the work place & in an
academic environment, so I have seen first hand how small changes can make the
world more inclusive. With this in mind, I have created a small E-learning and
testing framework to reaffirm some of the "web accessibility" standards.

Primarily built with HTML & CSS, additional functionality was added with a
sprinkling of Javascript. Also a basic JSON object for the quiz.

HERA RE-DESIGN


I were asked to do a re-design of a cosmestic website. The client had the
website built with a "WIX template", but was never happy with the appearance of
site. The client was also complaining about the inability of the site to display
on tablet computers and some mobiles. With these concerns in mind, I got to
work.

Once again, plain HTML & CSS, were used to emulate the layout of a wordpress
theme the client liked. Wanting to maintain a customer base I did HREFS keyword
research and tweaked the SEO. additional fucntionality was applied with
JAVASCRIPT.

STAMP DATABASE


Working with PHP primarily, the custom functions within the Wordpress, I became
intrigued by the MySql database structure. I've used PHP for a few things over
the years, but I've never "married it up" with a database or worked with CRUD
functions. After some study I have constructed a "Digital stamp album".

Google's CSS Materialize framework was used for grid and button functionality,
then next, PHP & MySQL. The Database also uses AJAX to cut down on HTTP requests
and produce a more robust product.

ACADEMIA

I have passed a CERT HE (Digital Media) at Newcastle College. and taken elective
modules Java 1, Web Design and Relational databases at Northumbria University. I
also find the Jon Ducket books to be very helpful!



ADDITIONAL

Familiar with Adobe CC able to manipulate images & SVGs with Photoshop &
Illustrator. I also have good fundamental knowledge of on-page SEO and can do
keyword research with HREFS. Able to use CSS3 Materialize to develop
rapid-prototype, but switching to Bootstrap as it has more features and supports
wordpress theme development better.



CURRENT RESEARCH

Building a WOO Commerce theme. and reading about the latest WCAG 2.2 web
accessibility standards.

ENJOYS PROTECTING THE LITTLE THINGS.

While most people try to keep insects out of the home, I have a habit of
bringing them in. I am fascinated by butterflies and moths and release 100s of
gravid egg layers into the ecosystem each summer.
