Sophie is a beautiful grey tabby who is 9 months old. She is going to be a
smaller full grown adult kitty and while she may be shy to start is a wonderful
cuddler and loves to play with other cats. She is a purr machine if you pet her
and loves to play. 

She might not be the best fit for homes with dogs and small children. 

She is spayed and up to date on all vaccinations.

NEW TNR RESOURCE IN FRONT ROYAL

HSWC Spay Clinic is now open in Front Royal, VA is providing amazing services to
TNR organizations in surrounding areas. 

For $75 they will spay or neuter, vaccinate for rabies, and ear tip. Distemper
and select other testing can be done while under sedation at no additional
cost. 

Office hours are Monday through Thursdays 1pm to 5pm

The Virginia State Senate is voting on legislation with significant impact for
rescue efforts and animal welfare in Virginia.

These bills will be heard in the Senate Agriculture Subcommittee on Thursday,
January 21, 2021 at 9:00 AM.  To be sure that your voice is heard, we suggest
contacting legislators prior to 8:00 AM Thursday!  Unfortunately, the Senate Ag
Subcommittee is not set up to receive written testimony.  But you can reach out
to the three Subcommittee members by email or phone:

BILL DETAILS

SB 1390 clarifies that everyone, including public shelters, may participate in
TNR.  Here is a link to that

SB 1412 will require pet shops, dealers and commercial breeders to obtain
certifications of no animal related convictions from key individuals and

SB 1417 requires animal testing facilities to offer dogs and cats for adoption
once the facility no longer needs them.  Here is a link to more information on

SB 1379, the Humane Cosmetics Act, prohibits cosmetics testing on animals, and

THE KITTENS ARE COMING!

The 2020 kitten season is upon us. We have several kittens available for
adoption and many more that will be up for adoption soon. These sweeties are
looking for homes in pairs or on their own (depending on their personality and
your home). 

Our new babies will be listed on PetFinder soon.

If your home is already full, but you'd like to help out please consider
donating or sending our foster and rescue cats something from their Amazon wish

CANCELED: SPRING FUNDRAISING 2020

Update: Sadly, due to the global health crisis caused by COVID-19 we've had to
cancel all events until further notice. Please follow us on Facebook or support
us during this time if you're able by donating.

Dewey is a proud participant in the Community Cats Podcast Spring fundraising
match event. The Community Cats Podcast will be matching all donations made
through the end of April (this has been extended to the end of May and will
match up to $1000) to help us care for feral cat colonies in Northern VA as well
as foster and adopt sociable kittens to great homes. 

Dewey will be collecting donations during this Spring fundraiser match event
with the following efforts:

VCA Donation Stations
Our vet partner VCA of Centreville and VCA of Woodbridge will be collecting cash
donations at the front desk through the end of March. 

Wicked Jezabel Benefit Concert
Join us at The Electric Palm Restaurant (12745 Sea Ray Lane, Woodbridge, VA
22192) at 8:30pm on April 4th for a rocking concert to benefit Dewey Animals.
