Gordon Crawford of Crawford & Sons Waterproofing in Ajax, Ontario has been in the business for more than 42 years and has been in close to 15,000 homes in Durham Region. Crawford & Sons have seen virtually every possible leaking situation you can imagine. Crawford’s extensive experience has taught him to be innovative and try different techniques to solve problems. He takes pride in his troubleshooting ability. Crawford & Son’s professionally solve problems at the lowest, most reasonable cost to the customer. In some cases that may involve excavating the entire perimeter of the house and replacing the weeping tiles, but that’s because it is absolutely necessary. However, if Crawford & Son’s believe they can try a different technique first that will provide the same results, they will. An interior weeping tile system with drainage board is also extremely efficient and cost effective by saving costly damages to exterior landscaping, driveways and decks etc. SERVICES IGNORING FOUNDATION LEAKS WILL RESULT IN COSTLY REPAIRS. 01. EXTERIOR WATERPROOFING When it comes to wet basements, the root of the problem will first appear after heavy rains. As the water trickles down into the ground it finds cracks and holes in porous concrete or blocks to leak through the foundation walls. Then as that same rain water reaches the bed rock it starts to rise, filling up the water table creating hydro static pressure. This is where properly functioning weeping tile is needed to dissipate that pressure before it rises up through the basement floor. It is important to determine which of these two scenarios is the actual cause of the problem. 02. BASEMENT CRACKS Interior waterproofing methods are typically repaired by ensuring that any cracks or holes in your basement walls are properly sealed and watertight by polyurethane injection combined with an interior drainage wrap to help direct any unforeseen leaks below the floor for 100 % effectiveness. 03. WEEPING TILE REPAIRS Weeping tiles are porous pipes used to discharge underground water. They were originally named at a time when terracotta tiles were used for drain pipes which explains the use of the word tiles. Today’s products are usually 4” plastic pipes with weep holes or small slits covered by a drainage sock designed to keep the dirt out and allow the water to get in to be drained to the sewer system or evacuated by a sump pump.
