TRIAGEGO™

AI SUPPORT FOR THE ED

Targets the front door of the hospital — the Emergency Department — where 60-70%
of patients nationwide are triaged to an ambiguous Emergency Severity Index
Level 3, meaning the projected course of care is uncertain.

TriageGO™, tested and in operation at major hospitals, has resulted in more
accurate assignment of triage levels, earlier identification of high-risk
patients and an increased volume of low-risk patients directed to more efficient
“fast-track” care pathways. This has proven to reduce time to emergent care and
improve patient flow throughout the emergency department.

TRIAGEGO™ NOW RUNNING AT THREE JOHNS HOPKINS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS.

Johns Hopkins Hospital, Bayview Medical Center and Howard County General
Hospital are now all running TriageGO™ in their ED’s. The three facilities
combined see 180,000+ patients per year and have experienced significant
improvement in triage accuracy, decreased times to emergent care and overall
improvement in patient flow.

“EVERY HOSPITAL IS DIFFERENT. HOW IS USING ALL OF THIS DATA GOING TO HELP ME?”

A good question. A hospital in rural Pennsylvania, for example, may have a very
different patient population than one in urban California. Although our AI
software uses hundreds of thousands of data points, it most heavily weights your
own and your region’s data in making recommendations. Our models are extensively
calibrated for each facility individually.

THE AI TRIAGE SOFTWARE NOW IN USE AT MAJOR US HOSPITALS DOES COME AT A COST.

About $1 a patient.

BALTIMORE MEDICAL SYSTEM USING KNOWSHOW™ FOR IMPROVED PATIENT ACCESS.

Baltimore Medical System is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operating
four separate clinics.

Stocastic’s KnowSHOW™ is now making possible early identification and targeted
outreach to patients at high risk of missing their appointments. The system also
helps strategically schedule and fill in open appointment times that likely will
result from missed appointments.

OVER 65% OF ED PATIENTS ARE TRIAGED AS 3. WHY?

The purpose of triage is to differentiate between ED patients, not group them.
Yet two thirds of all ED patients nationwide are triaged to level 3 – the
ambiguous and least differentiating midpoint of the (high acuity through low
acuity) 1 through 5 scale. As a result, triage doesn’t do what it should to
prioritize and streamline patient care.

The overuse of level 3 occurs primarily because triage systems in use today are
antiquated and largely based on projected resource use. With modern EDs having
many resources at their fingertips, there is less differentiating.

TriageGO™ changes this by using a risk-centric model. As a result, there are
fewer ambiguous 3’s the correct proportion of level 2’s and more low-acuity
patients (levels 4 and 5) identified for efficient fast-track pathways.

WHAT IS AI?

The term artificial intelligence (AI) is appearing frequently in healthcare and
has a variety of meanings depending on the particular subject and who’s saying
it.

At Stocastic, AI specifically means the use of computers to scan vast amounts of
data — from existing Electronic Health Records of similarly presenting patients
— to allow clinicians to make more precise, better informed decisions on the
spot, in real time.

Stocastic AI products are designed to work hand-in-hand with trained
professionals, not replace them.

WHAT IS MACHINE LEARNING?

Machine Learning (ML) is a type of artificial intelligence that lets computers
“learn” to improve their actions or decision-making based on past experience
doing a task. To do this, ML draws from computer science, statistics,
psychology, neuroscience, economics and control theory. The more data you
provide, the more the model learns.
