AIRPORT MODERNIZATION WITH BOOMI Boomi helps public airports digitally transform their operations with cloud-native integration. With Boomi, the airport saw dramatic improvements in speed, accuracy, revenue, and cost savings across multiple use cases:WAYFINDINGThe airport’s wayfinding efforts relied on a constant flow of flight, baggage, gate, and geospatial data. This data was sourced from multiple providers, all following different versions of the AIDX (Aviation Information Data Exchange) standard. As a result, the airport needed to aggregate and standardize at least four different data streams to produce actionable wayfinding information. Boomi’s integration allowed the airport to ingest and aggregate data from all data streams on four different versions of AIDX, creating a single source of truth for all internal and external users. GOVERNANCEWith so many versions and consumers of its data, the airport struggled to define who owned which data and how it should be structured. Boomi worked with the airport to standardize and define its data. Boomi also empowered other airport agencies — such as finance, parking, and operations and maintenance — to serve as stewards for the data they were using. With these users responsible for assuring data quality and accuracy, the airport’s technology team could focus on delivering data efficiently. FINANCE OPERATIONSThe airport’s finance team owned most of the data to be integrated, relying on numerous data streams to track cost-per-enplanement and other metrics. Boomi helped the airport consolidate multiple revenue streams from disparate systems — integrating all accounts receivable and improving revenue reporting and invoicing. Boomi’s integration also helped streamline onboarding for airport vendors. This allows the airport to lease retail space faster and avoid revenue loss from vacant property. COSTThe airport faced escalating costs from maintaining and licensing its on-premises legacy middleware. This made it difficult to accurately forecast costs over time. With Boomi, reusable connectors come with known costs, and runtime costs are static rather than volume-based. This allowed the airport to better manage its spend footprint and forecast costs for new projects. Also with Boomi’s support, the airport was able to reduce its team of integration developers from six to three and strategically reallocate those employees to other priority areas.
