Each video is up to 10 minutes with the intention of capturing a learner's attention while providing the instructor time to break core concepts down into meaningful pieces. Every concept in our video lessons is reinforced through understanding questions, application opportunities, as well as pauses and practice moments. Assignments Subject’s assignments are designed with today’s learners in mind. Through the use of critical reading and critical thinking, learners develop transferable skills that will help them in their courses and in the real world. Assessments Our lessons include both summative and formative assessments designed to allow students to show mastery of each concept. After each video lesson students test their knowledge with quick check for understanding questions and quizzes. In the middle and end of each course, midterms and finals allow learners to make connections across lessons and concepts. Educator Insights Our educator portal offers an easy to navigate dashboard showcasing learner progress and grades. Educators are empowered with data necessary to effectively manage their classrooms. Educational Services Our suite of educational services ranging from tutoring hours to scoring of assignments help save educators time and provide needed support for learners. Meet our Educators “Subject has been an amazing company to work with. Their curriculum is aligned to the standards, and their customer service goes above and beyond. Their team has visited our school every time we've switched modules and helped our learners and teachers navigate their website. They have implemented office hours for our learners who need the most help.” “Subject has been a great resource for me as a new teacher! The online format makes it easy for learners to keep track of their work and see the progress they have made throughout the year. Engaging, informative, and proactive are some of the words I would use to describe the team.” “Subject has been an amazing company to work with. When can a learner start a course? Our courses are half and full-year courses. While our courses are designed to support learners from the beginning to end of the course, learners can begin the course at any time. What kind of Career Technical Education (CTE) do you have? We have CTE courses that focus on financial literacy, computer science, health, and the arts. Check out our full list on our course page! Which accreditations do you have? How did you get them and what’s the review process? WASC ( Western Association of Schools and Colleges) This is considered the “gold standard” of accreditations. It examines all aspects of a school, including the curriculum, faculty, administration, and learners. The accreditation is granted based on 3 year cycles. Our’s is valid until 2023. As part of the renewal process in 2022, we will have to undergo a comprehensive multi-day visit from accreditors. WASC accredits the school as a whole. Cognia ( also known as AdvancEd) This accreditation focuses on the learner experience. It requires substantial documentation about the faculty and educational delivery, as well as learner data. We have passed the readiness review, so we are a candidate for accreditation. In the fall, we will undergo a comprehensive multi-day visit from accreditations which will determine how long our initial probationary period will last. Cognia accredits the school as a whole. College Board In order to offer AP courses, each course must go through the course audit process and be approved by College Board. All of our current AP courses have gone through this process. The AP approval for each course needs to be renewed annually. College Board approves individual courses. Learners can potentially earn college credit for AP courses if they take the exam in May. After taking the exam, they submit their scores to colleges. Colleges have the option whether to grant credit for those scores. NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) NCAA requires a two step process. It reviews the school as a whole through a comprehensive process and then approves individual courses that learner-athletes can use to meet NCAA college requirements. As a school, Emile has received approval. The “core” classes offered by Emile have received NCAA approval. UC A-G The University of California requires that learner applicants take courses that fall within specific categories, labeled A-G. Going through the process of having courses approved by UC A-G ensures that a course will be accepted by a college when applying. While this system technically only applies to schools applying to the University of California system, it has become recognized nationwide as a rigorous standard so many other states have begun to use these standards. Who are your teachers and where do you find them? Our teachers are subject matter experts whose careers range from university professors and high school teachers to content creators. All of our instructors share a passion for their subject and for making it approachable to all audiences. Who grades (assignments, exams, final grades) and how? What is the minimum/maximum level of involvement we need on our side? Learner submissions in Subject courses are evaluated by highly qualified subject matter experts. Each topic includes formative assignments that build towards larger summative assessments in the form of topic quizzes, midterm, and final exam. Partner schools can use the grading and feedback provided by Subject in different ways based on their needs. Some partners may prefer to use the feedback and grading as suggestions to guide their own classroom instruction. Others may prefer to rely on the grading and feedback more fully and simply give it a “final pass” before inputting grades at their school. GET STARTED WITH SUBJECT TODAY.
