Tell Congress: We Need to Invest in a Climate Resilient Future Every year more costly and deadly extreme weather and climate change-related disasters—such as rapidly intensifying hurricanes, worsening drought and wildfires, and lethal heatwaves—disproportionately harm low-income communities and communities of color. These disasters remind us what is at risk every day we fail to act. Congress has the opportunity to pass the National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategy (NCARS) Act, which will, for the first time, establish a comprehensive, national strategy to build a more climate resilient future and invest federal dollars more wisely in adaptation. It is clear that climate change is happening now, and even if we reduce emissions today, communities will still be feeling the impacts for some time to come. That's why it's crucial for Congress to act now to establish and invest in a national strategy to better prepare and safeguard frontline communities and infrastructure now and into the future. Urge your members of Congress to cosponsor and continue to support the NCARS bill, to invest in a strategic federal plan that will better target resources to frontline communities and build a more resilient nation that can better withstand extreme weather and climate change-related impacts now and into the future.
