Shepherdstown Living

The first settlement of what is now Shepherdstown was recorded in 1730. Thomas
Shepherd obtained a land grant in 1734, and on December 23, 1762, Virginia
passed an act establishing the town of Mecklenberg, which was later renamed
Shepherdstown.
