At that time, the milk production of indigenous cattle breeds was low. The development process of domestic cattle breeds gained some momentum due to the provision of artificial insemination services through liquid semen from the Department of Livestock Services (DLS). This partnering initiative of the Bangladesh government’s livestock department and BRAC brought artificial insemination services to farmers' doorsteps and helped farmers increase milk production. However, it was difficult to preserve and maintain the quality of liquid semen. Therefore, In 2000, BRAC began producing frozen semen in its own bull station to ensure quality artificial insemination services. OUR COMMITMENTS We are committed to increasing milk and meat production through livestock breed development and empowering youth and women to strengthen the rural economy of Bangladesh.
