I’m A Celebrity star Richard Madeley has been taken to hospital after suffering
with a sudden illness overnight. ITV medics came into Gwrych Castle to check
over the Good Morning Britain presenter and it was subsequently decided Richard
should be rushed to a nearby hospital as a “precaution”.

I’m A Celeb’s official Twitter page wrote: “News from Camp: Richard was unwell
in the early hours and was immediately seen by our on-site medical team. 

“He's since been taken to hospital as a precaution, the health and safety of our
campmates is our priority #ImACeleb.”

A TV source added: “It was horrifying - campers were really upset and concerned,
all of the crew and medics rushed to set to help him”



“It was a real scare for everyone involved,” the source told The Sun.

Richard has since said in a statement: “Hello all! Richard here – firstly just
to say that I’m absolutely FINE.

“I started to feel briefly unwell in the small hours of the morning and was
taken to hospital as a precaution.

“By leaving the camp, I had consequently broken the Covid ‘bubble’ and as such
I’ve had to leave the castle and all the wonderful celebs that remain in the
camp.”

He continued: “Obviously I’m gutted to be leaving so soon but the safety of all
the campmates is the number one priority.

“I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue…even more so at the
prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but completely unforgettable
adventure – I’ve made some great friends and honestly had the time of my life.”

Wishing him well, I’m A Celeb fan Jamie Hugill tweeted: “Really hope it’s
nothing serious.”

Niamh Lyons added: “Get well soon sending love.”

Chris wrote: “I hope he's ok and can return to camp.”

The news comes the day after ITV viewers watched Richard take on the Kitchen
Nightmares Bushtucker Trial. 

In Wednesday night’s episode, the GMB host took on his second challenge of the
series. 

He was tasked with crawling through a series of confined spaces looking for
stars to win meals for himself and the rest of his campmates.

However, the presenter had Ant McPartlin, Declan Donnolly and viewers alike in
stitches as he made several innuendoes.

He kicked off the trial by sliding headfirst down the chute leaving Ant and Dec
amused. 

During the trial, Richard repeated it was “really, really hard” before
declaring: “It’s wet and it’s tight,” as he wrestled with untying some knots. 

Judy Finnigan’s husband then described the knots as “tight as a pea on a drum”.

I’m A Celebrity fans found the trial hilarious and took to Twitter to comment. 



@Reddevilbluemo1 tweeted: “Watching Richard Madeley slide down that chute is one

“#ImACeleb could Richard Madeley be anymore Alan Partridge? That was a very
