LACOSTE FILES 5 TRADEMARKS FOR METAVERSE-COMPATIBLE BRAND

February 24, 2023

A well-known fashion brand, Lacoste, has increased its presence in the metaverse
by submitting trademark applications for their fresh Champs-Elysees collection
of accessories, clothes, and luggage. as a complement to the cryptocurrency
sector. Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Adidas, PRADA, and other mega-fashion brands
have been prominent in the metaverse and NFT worlds. Notable among these
companies is .

The clothing company registered with the United States Patent and Trademark
Office (USPTO) on February 17, according to a tweet from the non-fungible token
(NFT) and metaverse-licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis on February
22.

The trademark applications encompass NFTs, crypto transaction software, virtual
apparel, shoes, eyewear, sports equipment, storefronts for virtual products,
extended reality virtual settings, advertising, education, and the supply of
virtual real estate services, the attorney claimed.

CELEBRITIES IN THE METAVERSE

Incidentally, the blockchain, the technology that powers the metaverse and
cryptocurrencies, has long been a favorite of the fashion industry. In addition
to Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Victoria’s Secret, and Rolex filing for NFT and
metaverse trademarks, luxury watchmakers, Tag Heuer and Hublot also accept
cryptocurrency as payment.

Major corporations are reportedly joining the crypto trademarking bandwagon,
according to Finbold. Among them are the multinational manufacturer
Mercedes-Benz, the Formula One racing organization, the American banking
behemoth JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM), the liquor brand Jack Daniels, the football teams
Barcelona and Real Madrid, the singer Celine Dion, and many others.

There were 7,746 new trademark applications for NFTs and associated goods and
services in 2022, which is 260% greater than the previous year, even though the
number of new trademark applications has been declining since March. Moreover,
5,850 additional trademark applications for the metaverse were filed in 2022,
which represents an increase of 200% from the previous year.
