World Athletics Proposes Major Long Jump Change
* Take-Off Zone Could Replace Wooden Board In Radical Long Jump Change In an
effort to make the event more appealing to fans, World Athletics is
considering measuring from where the athlete took-off within the "take-off
zone" rather than measure all jumps from the board. This would virtually
eliminate fouls and mean that the athlete who jumped furthest into the
sand-pit, wouldn't necessarily be the winner. World Athletics is testing this
at lower meets before they considering bringing it to elite competition in
2026.

The sport needs this! The world 1500m champion will be running the 3000 at the
World Indoors before a home Scottish crowd taking on Yared Nuguse, and likely
Lamecha Girma, Getnet Wale, and/or Selemon Barega!
World Athletics needs to devise a system that encourages everyone to run World
Indoors. How about making the final at World Indoors = automatic Olympic
qualification in the event of your choice (so Grant Fisher could run the 3k to
get his 10k qualifier)? Instead, Fisher is incentivized to run 2 races no one
cares about to make sure he has a 10,000m qualifier.
