We turned to Computools with the idea of creating a sales management platform
for our website.
Thanks to their business analysts we pointed out the optimal list of
functionality that included full sales cycle management, automation of necessary
documents, tracking, inventory management, client base management, and
analytical tools for better transparency.
Computools`s engineers formed a tech stack for our project, development
guidelines, and optimal project management methodology to stay on budget, and
finally synchronized the developed sales management system with our existing
website.
It would definitely be the approach and communication. It was our first time
working with the software development company and they did their best to outline
the foremost objectives of the project, risks, and optimal deadlines; they
carefully explained what is really needed from the system and how to implement
it, conducted regular check-ins and meetings for better transparency, and did
many other.

We hired Computools to develop Phase I of a product, a map-based software
system. They did an excellent job, so we decided to use them on a more
technically-challenging Phase II. The system is of an IoT-type, working with the
IP cameras. Even though this field was relatively new to the developers, they
came up with a very reasonable estimate and then adhered to it during the
development cycle. The group was led by a senior developer who was not only
technically very good but also very responsive and available at any time. We
were very satisfied with the results and plan to continue using Computools.

GREAT TEAM AND PRODUCTIVE COLLABORATION

I am the project manager of a cryptocurrency exchange "Rokes exchange" based in
Estonia.
We were working with Computools on development of the new design for our
exchange platform and some tasks on the backend. It was a major update for our
project and the Computools team worked on PWA version of our main app.
Computools was chosen as a vendor by one of the previous PMs, and I am not in a
position to tell what this decision was based on. Over the course of the year we
worked with Computools, two other vendors were engaged in the development
process, but in the end we decided to only stick with Computools, and this
decision was based on their professional skills, the timely delivery on the
tasks and good communication skills of the team.
The UI redesign was centered around frontend technologies, mostly the
implementation of PWA version and web version of our app using Vue.js. Apart
from that, Computools also participated in the implementation of GraphQL API in
our project.
We had varying number of team members over the time we worked, but we always had
one project manager and one business manager for the whole duration of our
contract, and the development team was changing depending on the current scope
of our development requests, while the lead developer was also with our project
almost all the time.
We have successfully launched our new design and the PWA app, mostly by the hand
of Computools team. Everything was delivered as requested by our specification
and design document. The quality of work was on a very decent level, and
although there were inevitable minor bugs or things that needed small
corrections, everything was fixed in a timely manner.
The project manager assigned to our project by Computools was proactive, had
great communication skills and demonstrated fluency in English. We held sprint
meetings and interim calls, while he them communicated with the development
team. If needed he also facilitated the calls directly with the lead developer
and we always appreciated the team's ability to adjust to our changing
requirements and deliver on tasks with little or no delay.
For communication we used MS Teams, for planning we first used Trello, then MS
Planner and then Github issues and board. The team had no problem with using any
of these tools and also made reasonable suggestions on how we can improve the
collaboration process using these tools.
Their ability to work in a very flexible manner, timely delivery and
communication skills from both managers helped us to upgrade our product in the
planned terms and their contribution was the most valuable among other vendors
we worked with. They were able to easily collaborate with other teams and our
internal team, sharing their extensive expertise and finding consensus with
other developers was a crucial part of their work with our project.

I am representing a digital agency located in Norway. In 2019 we got a complex
project about developing a custom LMS platform. Based on our meetings we picked
Computools to be a good match based on their feedback, follow up questions and
quick turnaround when needed. We needed a company with great experience with the
technology stack Laravel, React, AWS and Wordpress.
We started with UI and UX work before Computools got informed and hired for the
project. Based on the project specification and design Computools used agile
development to help us achieve important project milestones such as developing
an pilot version for platform presentations and user feedback. Since we did not
have a strict platform specification containing user stories in advance,
Computools helped us in an incredible way in terms of creating user stories and
suggest solutions. They have been a great partner in this project, not just a
vendor.
Computools have had a single project manager in the project, this have made
communication swift and effective. We are very impressed in how the Computools
team have contributed in the project by solving difficult tasks that is not
always described in detail. I think this have pushed the team to think for
themselves and contribute to this project in a big way. We are also impressed on
how professional the company are in terms of follow up communication and how
they want to build a long lasting professional relationship.

Computools is an excellent company for a full cycle project. The most important
quality for us was the interest in the success of the product. Thanks to the
well-coordinated work of the team, the development and implementation of the
product on the market were completed on time.
Computools has developed 2 beauty apps with friendly UX. One was created for
beauty service providers and the other for consumers.
Firstly we discussed the project and mapped a workflow. Then we have identified
the basic requirements for the project and the most appropriate technology
stack. After that, the team immediately started developing the project.
The team consisted of three developers and project manager. We communicated
directly with the project manager, and the tasks were provided in jira.It was
very convenient to work according to the SCRAM method with daily meetings.
We received an increase in the flow of customers within a week after the launch
of the product. We have received some feedback on improving the customer
experience.

What was the idea behind starting this organization?

The time frame of developing a mobile app depends primarily on the volume and

with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
We recommend our clients choose the definite platform considering geographical
location of their target audience. For example, in the USA iOS is the most
widespread platform, while in China users adhere to Android.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your
app? What are your recommendations?
There are a rapid growth and increased popularity of hybrid apps, and it’s not
surprising. The hybrid apps are designed for the mass market which majorly
consists of small and medium businesses. A hybrid app is a winning solution if
we need a composite application consisting of many small modules. You can simply
isolate necessary modules and put them into another app, duplicating this
feature. Moreover, take into account that the average cycle of rewriting
(updating) a mobile application is once in 2 years, and for hybrid apps, this
process is cheaper.
However, if we talk about a large enterprise which requires a reliable app for
automating business processes or performing tasks of high complexity, a native
app is the only option. If you plan to have a stable performer, it’s recommended
to start building a native app due to its clear code. A developer will always be
able to understand any line and function.
As you can see, the choice of a platform depends on a sphere and industry you
work within. Narrow niches and large enterprises won’t go without native apps,
while for small and midsize businesses hybrid apps are the most optimal
solution.
The second question is Android or iOS. Nowadays, both of these platforms are
great. I’ll just repeat that make a choice according to the location of your

The cost of a mobile app is based on the volume and complexity of the
functionality a client wants to implement. First of all, it’s necessary to
create a full picture of the functionality and make up the project
documentation. Both a client and our team should have the same understanding of
the future product. Our innovative approach to solving this issue is that we use
interactive prototypes. The business analyst collects client requirements and
conveys them to the UX designer. Then the UX designer visualizes all
requirements with the help of special program which approximately demonstrates
how the future product will look like and work, including an arrangement of
elements, the transition between screens, and calls to action. Eventually, we
present a ready prototype to the client for discussion and final approval,
creating a technical specification which is passed to leading experts for
further evaluation.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per
Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions
etc.)
Our company is pretty flexible, so that we can consider any billing options,
preferring Time & Material and Pay per Milestone (in phases) payment structures.
At the same time, Computools is the client-oriented company which tends to
remove all possible risks.
That’s why we also use Fixed Cost, as it ensures the safety of customer’s
budget.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what
is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Generally, we take Fixed Cost projects from $20,000 and Time & Material projects
from $40 / hour. At the same time, we can work on single tasks or provide
support services under contractual terms.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in
2016?
The minimum price range of a project we worked on in 2016 was $20,000. Our most
expensive project reached $500,000.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate
revenue from mobile applications? Why?
The choice depends on a type of the app. For example, it’s very profitable to
introduce paid subscriptions into a music player app. The region should also be
taken into consideration. Anyway, we suggest our clients to connect a paid
subscription or provide free basic features with a paid Premium functionality.
