SUNDAY 18 SEPTEMBER 2016 SELL NEOPOINTS FOR REAL MONEY - GUIDE! NEOPOINTS SELLERS That's you. You have loads of NPs, be it from your 9 years of playing honestly and following the rules, or your 1 month of playing with a Score Sender or AutoBuyer. What do you do? Sell them! Sellers are usually people who have spent time and effort in getting the NPs, so that they can get something tangible in return. There are more and more sellers each day, and different sellers offer different prices. The prices depend heavily on whether the NPs are legitly obtained, or illegitly grabbed. NEOPOINTS BUYERS The people with the cash. These people are the ones who buy the NPs from you, for various reasons. Some resell, buying from you at low prices and then reselling them at higher rates. Some get them because they urgently need the NPs for in-game trades. Some are just rich and too damn lazy to make/generate their own. The reasons are just far too many to list out. Buyers are usually the line between a good trade, and a bad trade. You get a good buyer, and the trade goes smoothly. No one gets frozen, he gets his NPs and you get your money, everyone's happy. You get a bad buyer however, and either you get scammed through chargeback, or you don't get paid at all, or you just get reported and your account is down the drain. Sellers usually choose their buyers, but given how the demand is most of the time lesser than the supply on cheating forums, most sellers just give in and trade to any buyer. NEOPOINTS (NPS) The key in this trade, is of course the NPs. As mentioned, the NPs are priced differently on how legit they are. What's legit or illegit you may ask? Here's a rundown: Legit NPs are points which you have gotten through playing without cheats. This includes playing a set of games everyday, striking a jackpot in a lottery or Buried Treasure, restocking by manually camping at the shop and refreshing, etc. There are many ways of earning legit neopoints, but the tedious effort which has to be put in, puts off many people. Illegit NPs are points which you have gotten through means which violate Neopets' Terms and Conditions. This includes generating your NPs through a score sender, restocking on items with an autobuyer, etc. Basically any amount of NPs made through cheating programs, is illegit. NEOPOINT PRICES How much they go for varies from seller to seller. As legit NPs are much harder to earn, prices usually go for $3 to $4 per million. Illegit NPs usually go for $1 to $2 per million, given how easily they can be acquired. Basic economics applies of course, how demand and supply is related. If Supply is greater than Demand, like it is now, then prices are likely to fluctuate and go lower than usual. If Demand is greater than Supply, like if there is a sudden boom in buyers and sellers can't keep up, then the rate is likely to increase by a few dollars. You can count on Supply > Demand most of the time anyway. HOW DOES BUYING/SELLING NEOPOINTS WORK? Well to put it simply, the whole modus operandi is like this: 1) Seller sets up a thread saying he has NPs for sale, and posts his ratio. 2) Buyer is interested, posts and PMs seller. 3) Depending on preference, seller sends the NPs over to the buyer while the buyer sends money to the seller. 4) Trade is complete, trade rep is exchanged, happy people. However, if only all trades were this simple... DOWNSIDE OF SELLING NEOPOINTS There are many downsides to this trade. Scammers plague the cheating scene, and TNT tracks many NP transfers. Here I'll list out some of the downsides you have to be aware of, and possibly the best way to deal with them. Chargeback Scammers Every seller's worst fear. Just when you think a trade has gone well, and everything's just as it should be, you receive a notification from Paypal. You have been chargedback. A Chargeback occurs when the buyer tells Paypal that he hasn't received the property he paid for, which is obviously a big fat lie. So Paypal would deduct the amount you just received and send it back to the buyer's account. You just lost your NPs to a scammer. What can I do? Well chargeback scammers are really difficult to deal with. Middlemen can't help at all either. You never know how trusted someone is until you've dealt with him enough. The best way to counter chargeback would probably be to avoid Paypal payment altogether. Receiving payment through gift cards from Amazon.com or eBay.com makes sure that the buyer cannot get back his money. Another way would be to ask the buyer to file a chargeback, then cancel it. But this one has major risks too, and doesn't ensure that he doesn't scam you still. If he wanted to scam you through chargeback, he won't bother cancelling the first time anyway. Disappearing Scammers What everyone hates, not just sellers of NPs. You go first, and after receiving the property, he just ups and leaves. He disappears from MSN/AIM, logs out of the forum, and you never see him again. You just lost your NPs to a scammer. What can I do? Simply put, follow this rule: Lower level goes first, and if levels are similar, lower trade ratings go first. If both levels and trade ratings are similar, use a Middleman. Reporting Scammers A new type of scam, of which I only learnt of the hard way. You start transferring the NPs over to the buyer's account, and once he sees your username, you get reported to TNT. He sends the NPs you already gave him to another account, and self-ices the receiving account. He claims to have been frozen, refuses to pay because he "had nothing to pay for". You just lost everything to a scammer. What can I do? Well seeing as I only discovered this a few hours ago, I have no idea. The only thing I can tell you is to be careful when choosing your buyers, and don't trade with anyone you don't trust. I've been hit with this, and it sucks terribly. Be careful, be vigilant. If the buyer seems to want the sale to be done quickly, or is always mentioning how he's "afraid of being iced", you might want to reconsider the trade. Those are tell-tale signs. The Neopets Team Ahhh...who doesn't hate them if we're even here in the first place. Haha. TNT has a knack for detecting huge trades of NPs, or totally unbalanced trades like a SoS for a Wooden Blocking Shield or something. Once their mod bots detect something amiss, you get flagged for further investigation by one of the 'good' people in the TNT office. Obviously once they see the transfer of NPs, they just ice you based on suspicion. You just lost everything. What can I do? Nothing. Hahaha. Seriously, TNT have the final say in issuing the lovely cold treatment. The only thing you can do is to make sure all your tracks are covered and to use supposedly 'safe' methods of transferring. It is also noticed that TNT is more lenient with you if you're on a premium account, but then again you're not superman with the space faerie on your side. METHODS OF TRANSFERRING NEOPOINTS NP transfers are really important when you're selling, unless you're selling the whole account with the NPs altogether. Here are a few methods I've noticed and tried out, as well as my personal take and rating on it. Shops Method Buyer sets up junk items in his shop, and price them really high, ranging anywhere between 50,000 to 99,999. No one will buy junk at 100k, so it's assured that only the seller will buy them. (Even if some idiot buys the junk you get 100k for free, lol) Seller goes to the shop, buys the items needed, and NPs are transferred successfully. My take: The best and safest way to transfer. Why? Many items are bought from shops everyday, and logs can be cleared easily. It'll be best if the buyer clears his sales history immediately after receiving payment. 9/10 rating. Trading Post Method Buyer sets up a junk trade, and the seller goes on to trade NPs for the junk. My take: Somewhat like the Shops Method, but this way transfers up to 800k per junk item, instead of the capped 100k in shops. Very unsafe in my opinion. I highly suspect TNT tracks the trades going through, and you never get a chance to see or clear your trade logs. I say nay on this one. 4/10 rating. ETS Method Seller uses NPs to buy ETS items such as Paint Brushes, Avvie items or BD items, then sends them to buyer via 'Send to Neofriend'. My take: A little safer, but troublesome. Also, TNT could be wondering why you're sending a random guy 4 Baby Paint Brushes, and ice you both based on suspicion. Still, I give this one a 6/10 rating. Auctions Method Buyer sets up a junk item for auction, and seller bids the amount of NPs being sold. My take: The worst way ever. Yes, the buyer gets the NPs in one whole sum, but the whole of Neopia would see you transferring the NPs. 2/10 rating. CONCLUSION Selling Neopoints can be rewarding if you do it well. You'll come across many obstacles along the way, but that's what every NP seller goes through. Remember, anything which violates Neopets' Terms and Conditions is a risk, and you're doing something which anyone would hate, selling something which rightfully belongs to them. Even if everything is legit, selling Neopets property is not, and so you are prone to getting frozen even with legit NPs and legit accounts. Don't do it if you are unsure, and if you need help with anything, I'll be glad to help. I hope I haven't missed out anything, if I have I'd appreciate it if you pointed it out to me aight! Since people already spend real money on neocash items, they have no problems with spending money on more elusive items. The NC Mall was released in 2007, and since there have been thousands of items released. If you still have items from 2007, than you might have some hidden gems worth thousands. The neocash price system, works on cap values. Each cap is generally worth a $1 or $2, depending on the seller. Some rare items include (as an example the first line of items below are worth hundreds!): Orange Daily Dare Mystery Capsule Green Daily Dare Mystery Capsule Holiday Mystery Capsule Shenkuu River Rush Winged Talisman Negg Mystery Capsule Games Master Challenge Mystery Capsule Polka Dot Mystery Capsule Easter Negg Smiley Snack Silver Mystery Capsule Golden Mystery Capsule Neohome Mystery Capsule Balthazars Bag of Bottled Faeries Blue Striped Mystery Capsule Sparkling Water Mystery Capsule Pink Polka Dot Mystery Capsule Spring Mystery Capsule MME1-B1: Sputtering Grey Mini-Monster Halloween Mystery Capsule Lost Desert Mystery Capsule 20-Bundle Autumn Mystery Capsule Cloud Mystery Capsule Fiery Mystery Capsule NC Mall Mascot Flyer Sparkling Purple Mystery Capsule Spyder Web Staff Summer Mystery Capsule Maraqua Mystery Capsule 20-Bundle Attack of the Revenge Background Gift Mystery Capsule Holiday Snowglobe Mystery Capsule MME2-B1: Gold and Maractite Fish Shield MME4-B1: Sparkling Snow Background Festive Gourd Mystery Capsule Butterfly Shower Spooky Halloween Mystery Capsule Brightvale Mystery Capsule 20-Bundle Easter Negg Creme Puff Neoquest Wizard Wand Sweetheart Smiley Snack Terror Mountain Mystery Capsule 20-Bundle Games Master Challenge Flag Games Master Challenge NC Challenge 2010 Lulu Wig NC Mall Birthday Goodie Bag Quest for Knowledge Boots Shooting Novas TNT Staff Smasher Home Edition Hot Air Balloon Adventure Background Isca Key Quest Token 13 Days of Trick or Treat Halloween Bags 13-Pack NC Challenge 30-Game Ticket Pack Terror Mountain Holiday JubJub Power Bounce Token 25-pack Butterfly Dress Ferocious Negg Key Quest Token New Year Mystery Capsule Daily Dare NC Challenge 32-Game Ticket Pack Limited Edition Silver Gelert Key Quest Token Phantom of the Background Court Dancer Collectors Wig Gift of Neocash Surprise Box Background Isca Wig Posted by LennyC Solver at 01:48 Sell Neocash Items 2014-04-15T01:48:00-07:00 LennyC Solver Comments (0) Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to Facebook Older Posts Home BLOG ARCHIVE * ▼ 2016 (1) * ▼ September (1) * Sell Neopoints for Real Money - Guide! * ► 2014 (12) * ► September (1) * ► July (1) * ► April (1) * ► January (9) * ► 2013 (3) * ► December (1) * ► November (2)
