UNDERSTANDING THIRD PARTY SUPPORT SPEAKER: ALLEN ANDERSON Our objective is to equip families with the knowledge and tools they need for effective advocacy and for holding agencies accountable when seeking employment for people with an intellectual disability and higher needs of support. WHO CARES STAKEHOLDERS PEOPLE People with an intellectual disability who are motivated to work, reliable and dependable should have employment opportunities LEARN MORE FAMILIES Families and their connections typically bear the onus of finding jobs for people with higher needs of support. When achieving work opportunities for their member with an intellectual disability, families should not be on their own. LEARN MORE 3RD PARTY EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES The system needs to ensure families, that the quality of employment agencies are high, transparent, sustainable, scalable and consistent with the knowledge of best practices LEARN MORE EMPLOYERS A “consultative selling” model allows agencies to curate a large pool of diverse employers whose needs are well understood, allowing agencies to match employment opportunities with identified strengths and interests of individuals. LEARN MORE GOVERNANCE Governments have the obligation to develop effective policies, programs and practices that will improve employment outcomes for people with higher needs of support.
