ART ACTS AS A TOOLKIT FOR ME TO CONSTANTLY PROCESS, HEAL, AND EVOLVE MYSELF.” I am a being from London who connects with the universe through art. I would call myself a Process Artist because I quite literally process life through different art forms, focusing on the journey beyond the outcome. Art acts as a toolkit for me to constantly process, heal, and evolve myself. My creative process is led by the world around me, by means of universal flow, connectivity, and individual self-expression. This process is tied together by curiosity, play, reflection, and discovery through key themes including intuition, memory, spontaneity, and chance. Through these themes, I compose and recompose the vibrancy and energy I perceive, manifesting in abstract visual forms. The creative process is a game in which the world is my sketchbook, drawing upon my key themes. I achieve this through blind techniques, where the composition is often spontaneous or driven by chance. For example, when my father passed away, I sought to feel connected to joy again. Inspired by Camille Walala’s colourful work, I started acquiring children’s colourful paper packs to create landscape cutouts. I recalled how Tristan Tzara created Dada poems by cutting and rearranging words from articles in a bag. I applied a similar idea to my collages, pulling pieces out of the bag one by one to form random compositions. This example highlights how my work has helped me to process a major life event but also shaped and influenced my current painting practice, which is underscored by automatic drawing and random colour choices. FAQS * WHERE DID YOU STUDY? I studied my Foundation in Art & Design at Wimbledon School of Art in 1998 and specialised in Graphic Design before completing my BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in 2004. I also studied as a Lecturer in Art and Design at The Institute of Education, UCL but that’s a whole other story! * DO YOU EXHIBIT/SELL YOUR WORK? I am starting to exhibit and sell my work again after a reprieve. Working as a Stock Photographer, I sold images as licenses through photo libraries such as Getty Images. I also contributed to Bridgeman Images which is a Fine Art orientated library and will be continuing to do so with more current work. I think both avenues carry equal value and look forward to offering my work as licenses and physical objects. * WHO HAS BOUGHT YOUR WORK? I have sold a mixture of Art work and licenses of Fine Art & Photographic imagery to many different people and companies including and not limited to the BBC, Bird & Davies, Clerical Medical, Le Figaro , Microsoft , Oxford University Press, Rosebud Productions, The Huffington Post, YAHOO! and Wiley-Blackwell.
