Big changes to Covid rules begin today marking an end to restrictions.

The guidelines introduced last year have been changing gradually and working
from home orders have also come to an end.

Monday will see curbs being relaxed in care homes as 'living with' the virus
becomes the latest instruction by the UK Government.

Cases are plummeting and the 'R' rate has also dropped to its lowest since March
2021.

Limits had been introduced on care home visits under Plan B curbs allowing
millions to spend time with their nearest and dearest.

But the three-visitor restriction will also be dropped from Monday in all care
homes.

Workers will have to take lateral flow tests before every shift from February
16.

Weekly PCR tests are currently required along with lateral flow tests three
times a week.

Almost nine in ten care home residents had been triple jabbed Health secretary
Sajid Javid said, allowing visiting rules to be relaxed.

He said: "I know how vital companionship is to those living in care homes and
the positive difference visits make, which is why we continued to allow three
named visitors and an essential care giver under Plan B measures.

"Thanks to the progress we have made, I am delighted that care home restrictions
can now be eased further allowing residents to see more of their loved ones", he
said.

JABS

More Brits will also be able to get their Covid jabs from Monday

Vulnerable five to 11 year olds can from Monday have their first jab to protect
against Covid.

Vaccines were given to some youngsters in December and NHS chiefs are preparing
for a rollout.

But young people cannot be given the same dose size as adults.

Around 330,000 selected children will receive two doses of a small dose of the
vaccine, with an eight week gap between each injection.

FACE MASKS

In public places in England mask wearing rules were scrapped at midnight last
Thursday.

People were required to wear a mask on public transport and in shops, post
offices, banks, beauty salons, hairdressers, theatres and cinemas.

But now they will be allowed to visit these places without a mask.

They are still being advised to continue wearing them in busy areas or on public
transport.

Proof of vaccination or a negative test to visit large venues like football
grounds and nightclubs will no-longer be required.

VACCINE PASSPORTS

And vaccine passports for domestic use will be dropped at midnight.

Boris Johnson faced a huge Commons rebellion when the measure was introduced

The Government justified vaccine proof as it was "preferable to closing venues
entirely or re-imposing social distancing".

TRAVEL

Holidaymakers will no longer required to provide covid tests from 4am on
February 11.

Grant Shapps said arrivals to the country will only need to fill in a Passenger
Locator Form when entering the UK, if they have had both jabs.

He said: "From 4am on February 11, and in time for the half-term break,
eligible, fully vaccinated passengers arriving in the UK will no longer have to
take a post-arrival lateral flow test.

"That means after months of pre-departure testing, post-arrival testing,
self-isolation and additional expense, all that fully vaccinated people will
have to do when they travel to the UK is to verify their status via Passenger
Locator Form.

"We are therefore scrapping all travel tests for vaccinated people, not only
making travel much easier, but also saving about £100 per family on visits
abroad."

Those aged between 12 and 15 will be able to download digital vaccination proof,
Shapps confirmed.

ISOLATION

Those who test positive for Covid will not be legally obliged to isolate from
March 24.

People who test positive must quarantine at home for at least five full days and
this is not changing.

By returning two negative lateral flow tests on days five and six, it will
signal the end of the isolation period.

Those who are fully vaccinated and come are in contact with an infected person
should test daily, but will not have to isolate so long as they remain negative.

But unvaccinated people who are close contacts of others with Covid must
quarantine for 10 days.

Flouting the laws will land people with fines of up to £10,000.

RETURN TO OFFICE

Office workers are being urged to return to offices on January 21 in an attempt
to boost the economy.

Office workers are being urged to return to offices

The working from home measures took the form of advice, but badly affected the
economy of city centres which saw reduced footfall.

The Government claims "high levels of home working have played a very important
role in preventing sustained epidemic growth".
