THE UPPER DECK AT SUNNY COVE, FISH HOEK

We are perched right at the water's edge at 'The View, Sunny Cove' in the
seaside suburb of Fish Hoek in Cape Town (aka 'Tudor House By the Sea'), just a
few minutes' stroll along the coastal walkway from Fish Hoek's gorgeous beach.

Just below us is the gorgeous rockpool pathway known as the Cat Walk and, right
ahead, a magnificent panoramic vista across the full breadth of False Bay to the
mountains of the Overberg.

Sleeping six people in three comfortable bedrooms, the apartment features a
fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with bathtub and shower and an open-plan
living area opening onto a spacious and sunny north-facing deck.

Catch the sunrise over the ocean, watch whales from the deck in the winter
months and dolphins and seals year-round in the bay below, or take in the superb
views over sundowners.

A short meander along the Cat Walk leads you past crystal clear rock pools to
Fish Hoek's long, white-sand beach. One of the safest on the False Bay coast, a
shark-net makes it particularly ideal for swimming, snorkelling and body
surfing.

Sheltered benches and lawns along the walkway make it a sunbather’s paradise,
with a magnificent view of all the action and quick access to the water for a
refreshing dip.

The whales are right here in our Bay below us 💗 !

ENQUIRE NOW

THE LOCATION IS SIMPLY BREATH-TAKING

The Upper Deck’s central location on the Cape Peninsula means that all of Cape
Town's main attractions are within a 35-minute scenic drive, including the Table
Mountain Cable Way, V&A Waterfront, the Two Oceans Aquarium, Robben Island,
Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Chapman's Peak, the Cape of Good Hope (Cape
Point), Boulder's Beach penguin colony and the Constantia winelands.

We are flanked on either side by the picturesque harbour villages of Kalk Bay
and Simonstown, each only a few kilometres away and offering an abundance of
chic terrace cafes, restaurants, antiquities and amenities to suit every need.
They are connected by scenic road, shore-hugging railway and a beautiful coastal
walk which takes in the surfing spots of Clovelly and Glencairn beaches, as well
as two beautiful tidal pools.

There is always something in the Bay to catch one's attention - seals, rock
fishermen and snorkellers, picturesque fishing boats hauling their catch of
yellowtail onto the beach, whales breaching and blowing during breeding season.
False Bay is a wing-foil and surf-ski enthusiast's heaven. Watch them at play
while sunning yourself on your deckchair.

Want to be there too? Visit the friendly Fish Hoek Bay Sports Club on the beach
to join a coaching session, or sign up for a Miller's Downwind run. Guides and
rental equipment can also be found in the village centre.

The Upper Deck Apartment9.2RECOGNITION OF EXCELLENCE 2021

ACTIVITIES AROUND FALSE BAY, CAPE TOWN

Our sparkling waters, white sandy beaches, rocky shores and unique mountain
backdrop offer something for everyone. There are safe swimming beaches and
sheltered tidal pools, thundering waves and world-class surf spots. We have
sunshine - lots of it - the whole year round, even in winter when warm and
windless blue-sky days often stretch into weeks between brief, wild storms. When
the summer trade winds blow, you can always find a sheltered spot to catch a
suntan; in autumn and winter the Southern Right and Humpback whales visit…watch
their antics as you breakfast on the deck.

A multiplicity of terrace cafes and restaurants caters to all tastes and
pockets, there are antiques and collectables, museums, theatres and art
galleries and an antique steam train traversing the spectacular shoreline
railway track every second Sunday. There are three beautiful golf courses
(Simons Town, Clovelly and Westlake) in close proximity to our apartment, and
several others are no more than an hour’s drive away. For animal lovers and
twitchers, the nature reserves and coastal wetlands offer rich opportunities for
birdwatching and game viewing.

Situated in the Table Mountain National Park, we have many wonderful hikes and
superlative coastal strolls to suit all levels of fitness. The mountain chain is
criss-crossed by trail-running routes with spectacular and ever-changing views.
It’s a magnet for paragliders as well as rock-climbers, who can challenge
themselves at all grades of difficulty on either sandstone cliffs or granite
boulders.

Our coastline offers surfing spots for everyone, stand-up paddling,
wing-foiling, sea-kayaking, catamaran-sailing and kite-surfing. You can snorkel,
spearfish, scuba-dive on old wrecks, charter a yacht or go deep-sea game
fishing. You can try angling from the rocks or shark-cage diving…or canter a
horse along beautiful white-sand beaches.

We have fantastic rock-climbing and hiking routes right here on our doorstep.
Through your windows you can see Elsie's Peak just behind us, and Trappies Kop
at the other end of the beach.  And for road cyclists and mountain bikers we
offer unrivalled views and unlimited scope - make The Upper Deck your base for
the famous Cape Town Cycle Tour!

Cape Town is a paradise for surf-ski paddlers and our Fish Hoek Bay Sports Club
is a hive of surf-ski activity. Groups of paddlers can be seen every evening
heading out towards Simonstown around the point at Sunny Cove. The bay itself is
perfect for beginners, especially on our warm winter days when the water is calm
and the visibility infinite. A very active surf-ski school operates on Saturdays
from the comfortable and welcoming clubhouse, from which ski’s can be hired at
reasonable rates. Heard about 'The Miller's Run'?  The iconic and world-famous
'Miller's Downwind' is a 12km rollercoaster surf-ski ride past Roman Rock
lighthouse in mid-ocean, passing right below you at The Upper Deck to end on the
beach at the clubhouse.  If you are a paddler and this is on your bucket list,
an affordable shuttle service for you and your ski runs from the Club (where you
can park) to the start at Miller's Point slipway.  Join the locals who do this
multiple times a week and grab the opportunity for an unforgettable experience.
Lacking confidence or skill? The Club has coaches & guides who charge reasonable
rates to help you follow your dream.

From the picturesque fishing harbour of Kalk Bay to the Victorian naval base at
Simon's Town, from Surfer’s Corner to the famous penguin colony at Boulders
Beach, you’ll need a lifetime to explore it all.
