Researchers receive US$5m to create digital twin for agricultural
decision-making

A multidisciplinary team of researchers from Kansas State University,
Mississippi State University, NSF NCAR, Purdue University and the University of
Nebraska–Lincoln has received US$5m in funding to expedite the creation of
CropSmart. CropSmart will be a mobile app and web-based application that uses a
digital twin to provide the agricultural industry with individualized,
data-driven recommendations at no or minimal cost.

NASA to launch solar coronagraph to space station

NASA’s Coronal Diagnostic Experiment (CODEX) will launch to the International
Space Station in November 2024 to collect data on solar wind, including its
origin and evolution.

India Meteorological Department launches village-level weather forecasts

In collaboration with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) and the Ministry of
Earth Sciences (MoES), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has launched
gram panchayat-level weather forecasts. A gram panchayat is a village council.

Australia’s dual-polarized Doppler radar goes live

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology’s Karratha dual-polarized Doppler radar has
gone live and begun providing images. The Karratha radar will reportedly provide
better image resolution and visibility of weather systems and less image
interference than the temporary radar at Dampier.
