Learn more about our undergraduate programs Learn more about our graduate programs INDUSTRIAL AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING Industrial and management systems engineers focus on improving performance for an entire system: productivity, quality, cost, safety, sustainability, employee health, customer service, and market enhancement. Our engineers are found in many sectors of industries helping the organizations and society to achieve the greatest good. WHY CHOOSE INDUSTRIAL AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ENGINEERING AT WVU? The Industrial and management systems engineering department offers several career-focused degree programs - BS, MS, and PhD in industrial engineering, fully online MS in engineering management and safety management, and fully online PhD in occupational safety and health. The main focus in the curriculums of these degree programs is to provide the students with the most essential skills and tools to prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of modern workplaces. Collectively, the program graduates develop unique skills and knowledge to successfully address “Process Improvement” challenges which are central to the growth of any business, allowing our graduates to find employment with a very broad spectrum of local, regional, and global businesses, including but not limited to healthcare, finance, manufacturing, logistics, transportation, construction, retail, and government. OUR MISSION The mission of the Industrial and Systems Management department is to advance the industrial and management systems engineering professions through innovative and high quality academic programs, relevant research and professional services that address the needs of West Virginia, the nation and the world. EMPLOYMENT OUTLOOK After graduation, our graduates enter the workforce with a wide range of options throughout multiple industries including consumer goods, consulting, logistics and distribution, electronics, robotics, aerospace, government, communications, automotive, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, construction, project management, entertainment, utilities/energy, heavy manufacturing, trucking, railroad, retail, grocery and non-profits such as the American Red Cross, federal government, and USPS. Expected growth rate for IE for the next 10 years is 12%, highest among all engineering disciplines.
