The pay equity information on this site is only a draft. To access it,
if I’ve invited you, please use the URL (Web address) I’ve supplied you. It is
not locatable through major search engines, since I have blocked their access
for now. I plan to consider critiques and then to post a public edition and make
it easily available for anyone interested in equal pay and gender.
If you came to this page from the pay equity pages and want to return,
either try your browser’s Back button or re-enter the URL I gave you into your
browser’s address bar.
        Thank you.

No copyright is claimed on work of the United States Government but
copyright does apply to the selection, enhancement, coordination, and
arrangement of it and except that copyright on work of the United States
Government may be claimed outside of the United States.

Photographs in this website and created by other than me are subject to
copyright by other than me. Selection, enhancement, coordination, and
arrangement by me of such photographs is copyrighted by me.

A revision to any page on this website may be to content or to programming, or
both. Thus, a page may have come into existence in one year but show a copyright
for a previous year; or, when viewed in a browser, a page before and after a
revision may apear to be completely identical. In any case, a revision may have
been to the programming producing what is interpreted and presented by a
browser; or content or programming, or both, may have been copied from another
page into a new page.

A screen resolution of 640x480 will suffice for almost all pages; 800x600 or
larger will be adequate for the rest.

Browsers: This site is designed for best compatibility with Microsoft Internet
Explorer 5.5 and, with some exceptions, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and,
hopefully, 6.0 through beta 7.0. Also, it is designed for good compatibility
with Opera 8.52 through 9.01 and Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2 through 1.5.0.8, all on
Windows platforms, all in English or U.S. English, but not Lynx, Mozilla Firefox
2.0 (my installation of version 2 doesn’t work well enough, perhaps because of
the limited platform I have for it), Netscape Navigator, Amaya, or any
non-Windows-platform browsers, although it should generally work in later
versions of Navigator, in some late-version browsers for some non-Windows
platforms such as Macintosh, and in any browser that is a linguistic equivalent
of an English or U.S. English browser with which it is compatible. An incomplete
trial suggests that it generally will work in WML-enabled mobile devices.

Errors and other effects may appear when using browsers other than Microsoft
Internet Explorer 5.5. The earlier version 5.0 replaces some em-dashes and
curved double quotation marks with periods, at least one appearing to terminate
a sentence, and sometimes interprets the XHTML <strong> command by enlarging
type rather than boldfacing it. Firefox represents some hang-indented list items
in site maps by placing item markers within text. Opera and Firefox add dotted
underlines due to programming for text-to-speech synthesis. Errors and other
effects found were not necessarily consistently found. Not all errors and other
effects due to browsers, platforms, and related software can be identified.

Text-to-speech synthesis is inadequately supported. XHTML <abbr> markup and SALT
1.0 markup are provided in some files as support for text-to-speech synthesis
absent anything better implemented in most users’ systems. However, some
browsers manage <abbr> markup tags by presenting underscores and tooltips that
are otherwise unnecessary, not all TTS software recognizes <abbr> tags as TTS
support, I don’t know how widespread support is for SALT, and some files on this
site have no specifically TTS support (generally these being files downloadable
from the site for reading in spreadsheet, word processing, and other programs).
To the extent speech support is available, browsers such as Opera may be more
helpful than Internet Explorer, at least until Internet Explorer version 7 is
available. Opera’s speech features may require an upgrading of your operating
system. This site has not been adequately tested for text-to-speech synthesis.
The shortfalls of TTS support and testing and their costs bother me, and I’m
open to suggestions and interested in solutions.

JavaScript, Java, ActiveX, and, in general, scripts are not used on pages you
can access and view on this website at this time, except that, in support of
speech synthesis, if you arrange to have your computer speak Web pages to you,
Opera may require a JavaScript script for you. Scripting otherwise is used
behind the scenes, not where you’d see it directly. Therefore, if you don’t opt
for text-to-speech synthesis, your browser should be able to impose security
against scripting without affecting your use of this website. This may change in
the future, if I include a script on a page later. A script may be running at a
location where you probably cannot see it in support of your contacting me, in
order to prevent spamming by others; if you are unable to use the contact form
because of your browser configuration or other reasons at that time, other means
will probably be available, such as an address.

this website promises, please let me know by email, and tell me which link.
