How do you get an effortless golf swing like Ernie and Louis?

They’ve both got these smooth, fluid, effortless swings that go for miles! So,
how does one develop such an effortless swing? With a ridiculously simple drill.

Take one step forward and one step back. That’s all it takes. It creates an
effortless swing without you having to think about swing positions, mechanics,
or a host of other thoughts that we picked up from the latest Golf Digest.

We’re developing three things that are required in an effortless swing with this
simple drill: weight transfer, timing, rhythm. If you can’t keep your balance,
you’re not doing one of those three.

Keep it simple folks!

Colby Johannson has been a lover of golf ever since his departure from diapers.
He took his talents to Arizona to play college golf but his dream of pursing an
acting career pulled him to the West Coast. After a successful decade in front
of and behind the camera, Colby's love and talent of golf has remained a
constant and is what lead to the creation of Quite The Chap.

I do essentially the same thing with a very heavy weighted ancient wood
driver (lots of split shot down the shaft). You are right. It keeps swing
rhythm consistent including where to cock and uncock the wrists, backswing
length and timing, follow-through, everything. People comment on how easy
and smooth I swing. I don’t swing easy, but it looks like I do. Same with
Ernie Els, Louis Oostheisen (sp?), etc. They are smooth so it looks like
they are swing easy. Anybody who hits the ball as far as they do isn’t
    swinging easy.
Your exercise, whether with a weighted club or not, makes hitting the ball a
long way a lot easier. The swing itself isn’t easy as far as effort, but it
is so smooth the swing seems easy to do once you get used to the timing your
    exercise produces.
I know a former 2-time long drive champion (Eric Jones) who looks the same
way. He looks like he is swinging easy when he is practicing and competing
in long drive competitions. He obviously isn’t swinging easy, but he is very
smooth. He teaches people how to do that.

I’m a huge fan of yours. I have all your tips and drills in a folder. This
is one of the best. I haven’t had a club in my hand this year since all the
courses in Southwest Pennsylvania are either closed (COVID-19) or snow
covered 😄. I’ll have a lot of watching to do over the next 4-6 weeks. Keep
    them coming, Colby.

Some of these videos are unbelievably helpful to an older player like
myself, simple to remember easy to do. Good stuff !

I would build upon this tip with another; keeping your body fully relaxed
until you reach the point of ‘snapping the whip’ (the moment when the entire
body comes together creating impact with the club and ball).

Chap, Great tip… I’m half pissed that you let the world in on the secret!
Consistent rhythm consistent contact… then you get a chip and putt…fun and
    evil game;))

Thanks for keeping it simple! I have an old golfing buddy story on that
    one…I’ll share another time….
