If traveling across international borders, you may have to take COVID-19 tests before, during, and/or after your trip. The type of test may vary by origin and destination, mode of transport, and supplier (e.g., airline). Test results will need to clearly show the date and time the test was taken and a negative result. BE PREPARED Ensure that you bring and wear your mask as required. Masks are still mandatory in airports and on aircraft throughout the US via federal law and are required on many international carriers. Federal law also requires masks on other types of public transportation, including ships, ferries, trains, subways, buses, taxis, and rideshares. You must wear your mask when boarding or disembarking, for the duration of your trip, and within transportation hubs. Masks or proof of vaccination may also be recommended or required in some destinations due to state, local, territorial, or tribal laws. This requirement may extend to indoor locations, including entertainment venues or other public gathering places, regardless of vaccination status. Be sure to check local city and state laws. We also recommend considering contingencies for situations that may disrupt your travel plans. PACKING TIPS * Surgical masks – allow for 3-4 per day * Hand sanitizer * Disinfecting wipes * Tissues * Refillable water bottle * Snacks (optional) * Travel pillow / blanket (optional) * Rapid antigen test kits * Gloves (optional) In the event of unexpected delays: * Extra medication * Mobile battery bank/charger CHECK BEFORE YOU GO * You meet the necessary vaccination requirements * You have the required proof of vaccination (digital and/or paper-based) * If you need proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test for your arrival destination, which sort of test and how far in advance of travel / after arrival you are required to be tested * Are you legally required to quarantine on arrival? If so, what sort of quarantine requirements are required? * Familiarize yourself with travel operators’ hygiene protocols and processes, including information on extended processing times, access to facilities (e.g., airport lounges), and onboard services * You have downloaded any relevant international travel apps / digital health passports, such as the IATA Travel Pass * Regularly check travel and health requirements relating to your itinerary * Make sure you have downloaded Dash Mobile * Visit Journey Prep* Check for any new rules or restrictions in your destination, your transit points and home location. * Journey Prep is available in Dash Mobile and other CTM products. TESTING & QUARANTINE REQUIREMENTS Countries and states are frequently changing their entry, quarantine, and health regulations. Keep up to date with the requirements relating to your travel itinerary using this tool: STAY UP-TO-DATE WITH COVID-19 TRAVEL UPDATES CLICK HERE WHAT TO EXPECT WHILE TRAVELING AT THE AIRPORT, SECURITY AND IN-FLIGHT Procedures have changed to maximize the health and safety of travelers and staff. Allow for more time than you usually would to clear customs, security, and boarding. Things to keep in mind at the airport and in-flight: Protect yourself Continue to practice social distancing at the airport and throughout your trip where possible. Expect to wear a mask for the entire duration of your time in the airport. Hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes can be used to wipe down your seat, buckle, tray table, armrest, cabin wall, window shade, etc. In the US, the TSA allows you to carry on one 12oz bottle of hand sanitizer, but it must be scanned separately. Self-serve Meals, snacks, pillows, and blankets are not guaranteed on your flight. If these services are important, it’s best to bring them with you. Pack any snacks in a clear bag in your carry-on and be ready to remove items at security. If crossing borders, it’s recommended to purchase your food after security. You may need to discard it before arrival. In-flight magazines are unlikely to be available. AT THE HOTEL Hotels have taken significant steps to ensure your health and safety. Things to keep in mind when staying at your hotel: Reduce contact Use contactless check-in and check-out where possible. Some hotels may require you to wear your mask in public areas, so ensure you have masks packed and readily available. You may be required to check in with a QR code and sanitize on arrival. Upon check-in, inquire about the status of housekeeping services throughout your stay. Food & beverage Hotel dining and beverage services may have changed. Confirm with reception upon arrival what options are available to you. Check food delivery apps available in the area as an alternative. Health & fitness Hotel pool and fitness areas may have changed or have limited operations to maintain social distancing requirements. Try exercising in your room, go outside to stay fit, or check with reception on arrival for alternate options. GROUND TRANSPORTATION As car rental companies, rideshare services, trains, and buses have changed their procedures and policies in response to COVID-19, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the operators’ current protocols. Be sure to always practice social distancing where possible. You may be required to wear a mask, so come prepared.
