ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jeff Benedict is the bestselling author of sixteen nonfiction books, as well as
a television and film producer. His latest book, The Dynasty, is the definitive
inside story of the New England Patriots under Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick and
Tom Brady. Published in 2020, it was an instant New York Times bestseller. The
book is being developed into a 10-part documentary series, which Jeff is
executive producing. In 2018, Jeff co-wrote the #1 bestseller Tiger Woods. Jeff
was an executive producer on the HBO documentary Tiger that was based on the
book and aired in 2021. The book is currently being developed into a scripted
series, which Jeff is executive producing. Jeff is also the executive producer
on a documentary based on his book Poisoned that will air on Netflix. Jeff has
been a special-features writer for Sports Illustrated, the Los Angeles Times,
and the Hartford Courant, and his essays have appeared in the New York
Times. His stories have been the basis of segments on 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday
Morning, HBO Real Sports, Discovery Channel, Good Morning America, 20/20, 48

I've been a Pats fan since 2004 when I was in the second grade. The first 150
pages of the book was the best part for me because it was all things I didn't
know much about. That doesn't take away from the other things of the book. Page
150 is when we start talking about Brady. But learning about all of the business
stuff when it came to Kraft getting the team and dealing with Parcells was
fascinating with me. Business, life situations, mindset, leadership. Many things
I took note of in this book and I will go back to my highlights.
The Patriots Dynasty in itself can take 3 volumes if you ask me. But much
appreciation to the author for this wonderful book. I finished it in four days
because this is the type of book I've been waiting for since I was a kid. I
wanted to know about the Pats for the longest. I was ready to do that once Brady
was done with the Pats.......it just took me forever cause Brady is the GOAT and
is ageless.
Yes I am a BIG Pats fan. Born in New Jersey and raised in Miami, I shouldn't be
a Pats fan. But I am and all my time spent reading this book was worth it. I
wish a book like this could be released for every sports franchise or dynasty. I
would devour my favorite teams and other teams I respect. A lot of things we
already know, but awesome to somewhat see the mindset and growth of the Big 3 in
New England: Kraft, Brady and Bill.

This may well be the best book I have ever read. It is not only well-written,
but it gives a road map to success that could be helpful for parents of aspiring
athletes. It takes a lot of class to balance the difficulties involved in
staying on top. It points out that sometimes the best advice does not come from
Mr. Nice Guy. Everyone coaches differently and there are many top athletes who
would not have suceeded under Patriot leadership. It pries in depth into issues
that were backhanded or over-exaggerated by media. After loaning my copy to a
few friends I will read it a second time just to absorb all the nuances involved
in coaching and participating in professional sports. It's an awesome read
regardless of your purpose. It is not a Tom Brady biography as such and covers
all kinds of people and players who influenced the rise of the Patriot Dynasty.
I laughed, cried, cheered and scratched my head at everything that transpired.
Kraft is truly an underrated genius to have built that program the way he did.
I'd give it TEN stars if I could. (BTW I was an English teacher, so I know
something about good writing. This is some of the best non-fiction I have
experienced and was well researched and documented.) Don't miss your opportunity
to own a copy. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed.

Benedict is one of the best writers. This book shows that and more. If you are
an avid fan of the Patriots, and like myself, most of the info in the book isn't
new. Loved the beginning about Kraft and where he came from. Loved the Hartford
drama (I am from CT). But reading it brings back moments you forgot or adds
tidbits you never picked up on. Being at so many big games like the Denver
comeback or AFC title games with Bon Jovi made reading about it even better.
Today I finished the book after watching Cam win his 1st game for NE and Tom
lose in TB. It was surreal and sad but we got 20 years of awesomeness and
Benedict captured it brilliantly. Well done. Great read!

I am not a Patriots fan—was put off by recent scandals and simply got tired of
the whole Belichick-Brady psychodrama—but I am a fan of Jeff Benedict so
preordered the book and finished it the day after it arrived. Benedict is both
an outstanding reporter and fine storyteller. As he acknowledges, he writes from
the perspective of Brady, Belichick, and owner Robert Kraft, and obviously had
considerable access to all of them. Of the three, the book most changed my
impression of Kraft; I came away impressed with his love for his family,
especially his late wife, and also for Brady and others on the team. The book
answered a lot of questions but raised many more. Belichick remains an enigma; I
came away wanting to know more about his leadership style, especially what he
looked for in and how he managed players, assistant coaches and other staff.
This is not a criticism of the book; there’s only so much that it’s possible to
cover in 500+ pages and Benedict at least implies answers to many of my
questions. But I think Benedict suggests further areas of inquiry for other
reporters. There’s little as difficult as creating a durably successful
organization in sports, business or any other endeavor. Benedict provides
valuable insight into how the Patriots accomplished that rare feat, and does so
in compelling style.

Mr. Benedict did an outstanding job in writing this Patriot Book of treasured
information! I pictured the plays he outlined, I could see what was next as he
started from 1970. There is NOT a better RAGS to RICHES Sports story then our
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS! How fortuitous that Mr. Kraft and Bill Belichick found
each other during the Bill Parcells ERA! The real treasure for me were all the
BACK stories. I say again that this should be required for every TRUE Patriots
Fan!! Very well researched and an excellent read at just under 600 pages!!!!!!

times. Jeff covers 20+ seasons of Patriots football and that contains enough new
tidbits for even the most avid Pats fan. Additionally, the way he has covered
all of major Patriots highlights from the perspectives of Kraft, Belichick and
Brady is masterful.

I enjoyed this book and found it easy to read. I am a follower of a variety of
sports and I am especially interested in books that look at how sporting
cultures are developed. This book was really easy to follow and chronicled the
Patriots Dynasty really well, but by the end you couldn't help feel that the
analysis of the key characters was lacking. The book lacked objectivity unless
Robert Kraft is a saint, and I am sure he is a decent guy, there was no real
critique of him. Likewise Brady was portrayed in a similar way and if I am
honest came across as really boring which he can't be to have stayed at the top
so long. There was some critique of Belichick who comes across as the most
interesting of all three characters. Every bit of controversy is written from
the perspective of the Patriots. To be fair a good book well worth the purchase
price just not that objective.

Having grown up in the Brady-Belichick era, I’ve only ever known the Patriots
dynasty. I absolutely loved reading this book because I learned so much about
the team that I never knew. Seeing how hard Kraft fought to get the team, and
how it grew to be the Patriots I know and love today made my respect for Kraft,
Belichick, and Brady grow tremendously. Seeing the struggles they all faced
throughout the years up until the moment Brady made his decision leave, even if
you are not a patriots fan you need to respect all that they have done to build
this dynasty. There were many times where I had tears welling up in my eyes
reading through moments I’ve lived, and especially reading the epilogue I
finally felt I got the closure that many of us pats fans have been looking for
since Brady left. A wonderful read, and a book I highly recommend to any sports
fan!
