OKAY. NOT IMPRESSED
Surf club staff was too “faded” to make our drink when going down to redeem
free voucher. We arrived around 9pm when they informed us that they closed
at 10pm earlier when we checked in. Room was okay, we didn’t think the AC
worked that well. Kinda disappointed that the room faced train tracks.

RUNDOWN HOTEL
Springhill Suites in Oceanside - The hotel & room were rundown. I had
maintenance 3-4 x in our room for noisy a/c unit and squealing toilet. I
had to wear ear plugs bc of the a/c and toilet noises in the middle of the
night and/or turn of the a/c. Dealing with maintenance hassles took time
away from our vacation and oddly, we were also asked to assist in solving
the a/c problem. (Plus, one of the workers was a heavy smoker; the
secondhand smoke smell was unpleasant to have lingering in our room and
around my small children. Marriott should have a policy against this as a
safety and etiquette standard. If someone wants to smoke on their break
time, then they shouldn't be interacting with guests and/or be in guest
rooms. I don't want myself or my children around secondhand smoke.) The
shower caulking was coming off all around the edges of the shower = moldy
and icky. Our room key didn't work; I had to exchange it 3 times. Hotel
towels were stiff and scratchy, no bathroom rug. The jacuzzi was rusty all
around the perimeter = unsanitary and not relaxing. The spouts on the
provided water jugs always seemed to be dripping and making a big mess =
not classy, what a hassle. The front desk clerk gave me the wrong time for
morning breakfast cut-off by an hour, so we had to rush to grab food while
staff was closing up. One of two elevators was broken the entire four days
we were there, making wait times unreasonable, guests and hotel staff and
carts jammed shoulder to shoulder in the solo elevator at all times--ugh.
It seemed like they should've fixed the other elevator within four days. I
had to take our own trash out of the room (no trash bags provided so I used
my own) and I had to make basic requests for room cleaning and upkeep.
Having 2 adults and 2 kids in a room for 4 days and not checking to see if
they need more coffee, more cups, more towels, trash removal, etc., is
unacceptable at this price level. We will not return nor would we recommend
this hotel to anyone else.

BEST STAFF AROUND!
We loved our stay at this hotel. They offered so many extras at no cost. We
checked out their bikes and surfboards, beach towels and chairs. It helped
to make our stay much more accommodating and fun. We loved the breakfast
every morning, and the extra common spaces all over the hotel to sit and
enjoy a drink or take in the views from the rooftop pool. The tubs were a
bit worn, but they did the job and the rooms were in excellent shape and
very clean.

Not great for business
Train passing window was a nightmare
No daily housekeeping
Asked for a kettle and tea in room but didn’t have the option so I had to
ask for hot water by coming to front desk
They use paper plates and plastic cutlery every day
Sink was blocked
Generally pleasant and clean spaces but wouldn’t recommend as overpriced
and no flexibility

UNSATISFIED EXPERIENCE
We will never stay at Springhill Suites Oceanside again. Several family
members stayed at Springhill and experience problems throughout their stay.
Unoperable elevators, room air conditioning issues through out the weekend,
and for someone with mobility issues had to walk outside the hotel and down
the ramp to gain access to the lower hotel parking garage.
