ABOUT JOLAN

My name is Jolan van Herwaarden and I am a trainer and facilitator in
Organisational Capacity Building and Fundraising Capacity Building.

With over 20 years of experience in charitative fundraising, project management
and working with international organisations all over Europe but extensively in
Eastern Europe, Holland and the UK, I help build your organisational capacity
for your non-profit organisation

Through College of Change, I train, recruit and mentor international fundraising
teams and junior event management, fundraising and advice/consultancy.

I was lucky to be part of -and nurtured by- NGO's for more than 20 years ago. It
all started in the early nineties. when I joined the Dutch Aids Fonds as an
activist and organised many Walk for Lifes and World Aids Days, 

After 6 years, I moved on to a women’s rights organisation as their first
professional fundraiser, became head of Fundraising and Communication for an
international development agency and set up the Major Donor programme for the
Dutch Cancer Society. In my 12 years in the United KIngdom, I have taken up
similar senior positions at International Development charities.

I have been involved with the Session leaders at the International Fundraising
Congress in Holland for the last 14 years. I acquired a large network of
international contacts and it has enabled me to learn and share experiences with
fundraisers from all over the world. As a keen supporter of our international
non-profit sector, I am part of the board of policy-making bodies in the
Netherlands, UK, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Principles of Resource Mobilisation and how to diversify income streams. For

few workable and applicable techniques to coming home in your body: a wonderful
kind of "Jippie, I have a body!" We use Yoga and Mindfulness but you don't have
to wear special clothing.
After years of working in the charity world at management level, I have become
more and more interested in personal growth to make a better world from there.
So I became a yoga and Mindfulness teacher. I think it's fantastic to share my
experience and knowledge with a group of passionate delegates.

You can learn how to create moment of sheer joy, a real feeling of happiness
every day. yes, indeed you can learn it. Mindfulness is the energy that helps us
recognize the conditions of happiness that are already present in our lives. You
don’t have to wait ten years to experience this happiness. It is present in
every moment of your daily life. There are those of us who are alive but don’t
know it. But when you breathe in, and you are aware of your in-breath, you touch
the miracle of being alive. That is why mindfulness is a source of happiness and
joy.

Wealthy individuals deserve more attention and skills from a fundraisers. In
this workshop we'll discuss Major donor research, stewardship and relationship
management. You'll also learn more about privacy in admin and personal skills to
manage the realtionships. Of course there is time and space for the donor

LIEFDEWERK, OUD PAPIER

Veel non profit organisaties werken met vrijwilligers, en die kunnen de meest
uiteenlopende functie innemen; bestuurslid, administratie, gastheer,
fondsenwerver, evenementen organiseren en meer. Het vergt een goede
voorbereiding en afhandeling om hen een juiste en goede plek te geven en het
beste uit deze vrijwilligers te halen want ja, betalen kunnen we ze niet. Toch
maken deze mensen juist het verschil tussen commerciele bedrijven en onze

Finding, connecting with- and Fundraising from wealthy individuals is one of the
most amazing forms of Fundraising. Supporting these individuals, family, and /
or couples to realise their philanthropic ambitions gives both the charity and
the individuals in question an excellent opportunity to make the world a little
better. Recruiting Great Gifts is largely based on gut-feeling, and in practice,
expectations and results do not always match. Building such relationships is
always tailor-made, but still, it comes down to a good plan, thorough research,
clear communication between the organization and the wealthy individuals and,
finally, to ask for a contribution for the right project at the right time,
requested by the right person. In the Major Donor Support module I am keen to
share my knowledge, insights and experience with you. This can be done in
different ways, depending on need/wishes and the phase of MD Fundraising the
organization is in.
