growth. But, securing the necessary buy-in to kick
start your process improvement efforts, and then
make sure they’re sustained is not easy.
When continuous business process improvement
becomes part of your DNA, and not just a one-off
project, your staff, customers and the bottom line of
your business will flourish.
One of the hardest parts of bringing business
process improvement to life is building a compelling
case to get it endorsed and budget allocated. In
addition to this, to ensure ongoing long term success,
it will take a well structured approach to buy-in and
advocation from employees at all levels.
Process improvement isn’t just a trending
management approach. It has genuine, tangible
benefits that will drive lasting organizational
change. Benefits like improved auditing and
regulation management, identification and
management of organizational risks, right
through to being able to improve your customer
experience, the use cases able to benefit from
process excellence are endless.
A center for process excellence is the team that
will drive the focus and cultural change required
to realize the tangible benefits, cultural change
and bottom line benefits.

No surprises here – for your
business process improvement
initiative to be successful, you
need to start by getting the senior
executive team onboard.
The easiest way to do this is to demonstrate how
process improvement will help them achieve their
overall vision, or strategy. If you can show how process
improvement efforts help execute the organization’s
overarching strategy (and they almost certainly
will), that’s a sure-fire way for it to get noticed - and
supported.
As you go through your initiatives, link each of the
processes you’re looking to improve back to how it will
add value from a strategic point of view.
Use appendices that shows how you derived the total
value in dollars, cents, hours or minutes. Do your
home work to socialize your estimates with subject
matter experts, before you present them, so you can
quickly manage any objections and built trust.
Show your methodology – use a structure that
demonstrates how the technology, services, and
strategy all connect with the customer, and how you
will actually deliver on that with business process
management.
