ARE YOU A YOUNG PERSON OR A SUPPORTING ADULT? EXPLORE THE STORIES Read, listen to, or look at the illustrations for our six short stories about tricky things happening to young people at home, how this affects them and how they handle it. Go To Map SUPPORTING RESOURCES Discover our creative resources for use by professionals to support children and young people to explore the themes in the stories, from family roles, to relationship behaviours and self-soothing strategies. Resources MORE ABOUT THE STORIES AND HOW TO USE THEM There are six books in the series. Each book contains one short story about a child or young person who is experiencing difficult situations at home. There are animations on the website to help bring the stories to life and if you like, you can choose to listen to them being read to you by the writer. Each book has a summary of the story at the start, so you can choose which ones you want to read, or your supporting adult might suggest which stories you might want to read. You can read just one story, a few or all of them. Each story has pictures to help you understand what is going on; they are not too long, and you can always read the stories with an adult too. It might be that things in the stories have happened to you, or that the characters experience things differently from the things you experience, but you may identify with how they think and feel in some way. This series of books has resources with creative activities which are intended to be completed when you’ve read a story, to support you to explore the themes in the story and talk to adults about them. We know the things the characters experience, think and feel can feel complicated and hard to think and talk about and we have learned that using creative activities can be a good way into exploring tricky issues.
