TRANSACTION HISTORY NOTIFICATIONS

 * 2 years ago
 * Updated

We send transaction history emails every so often so you can stay on top of your
account activity. Check out this article for more info.

WHY DID VENMO SEND ME A TRANSACTION HISTORY EMAIL?

Venmo sends this email to remind our users to check their transaction histories
on a regular basis.

If you have been active on Venmo (i.e. made or received a payment, made a
purchase, transferred to bank, or received credits/refunds) in the past month,
you will receive a notice at the beginning of the following month. Otherwise,
you will receive this notice once per quarter at minimum.

CAN I UNSUBSCRIBE OR OPT OUT OF THESE EMAILS?

Venmo is required by federal financial regulations to send this notice to you on
a regular basis, so unfortunately you cannot unsubscribe.

If you close your Venmo account, we'll send one final transaction history email
to the email address on file with your Venmo account.

I RECEIVED THIS EMAIL, BUT I DON’T HAVE A VENMO ACCOUNT.

It’s possible you have an old Venmo account, or that you tried to close your
account but didn’t finish. You can go to venmo.com/account/settings/cancel to
close an account.

If you didn’t sign up for Venmo, it’s possible someone entered your email
address by mistake. Contact our Support team so we can fix that.

I HAVEN’T USED VENMO IN A WHILE. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED THAT I GOT A STATEMENT?

Venmo is required by law to send this statement to open Venmo accounts. We’ll
either send these statements every month or less frequently, depending on how
active you are on Venmo.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CAN-SPAM ACT? CAN'T I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM ANY EMAIL?

The CAN-SPAM Act only requires businesses to provide an unsubscribe link for
commercial email, which is explicitly advertising or promotional. Some of our
emails are transactional and required for Venmo to fulfill its responsibilities
as a federally regulated money transmitter. You can learn more about CAN-SPAM at
ftc.gov.

I SEE AN UNUSUAL OR SUSPICIOUS TRANSACTION ON MY HISTORY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Contact us as soon as you see suspicious activity. You can send us a message
through our contact form, email us at support@venmo.com, or chat with us in our
mobile app. If you’re feeling old school, send us a letter:

Venmo Error Resolution Department
222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza
Suite 800
Chicago, IL 60654

We recommend live chat (available in app) or email for the fastest reply.
