WELCOME TO REVITALIZE HUNTERS VIEW

Hunters View is located on hilly terrain above the old naval shipyard in the
Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. Originally built as
temporary workforce housing in 1956, the site’s 267 public housing units had
deteriorated beyond repair by the 2000s. Faced with the reality that Hunters
View would soon become uninhabitable, the San Francisco Housing Authority
selected the development team of Ridge Point Non-Profit Housing Corporation, The
John Stewart Company and Devine & Gong, Inc. in 2005 to work with residents, the
community and the City to revitalize Hunters View.

Hunters View was the first public housing project to be redeveloped in the HOPE
SF program, the nation’s first large-scale community development and reparations
initiative aimed at creating vibrant, inclusive, mixed-income communities
without mass displacement of the original residents.  Of Hunters View’s original
families, 70% have remained at the site through the transition from public
housing to mixed-income development.

The Hunters View team is currently working on the first two phases of
market-rate units and the third and final phase of affordable housing, which
will include 118 units, completion of the site’s street grid and infrastructure,
and construction of the neighborhood’s largest park.
