THE POS MALAYSIA HERITAGE
1992
The Postal Services Department was corporatised as Pos Malaysia.
2001
In September 2001, Pos Malaysia was listed on the local stock exchange.
2010s
With the rise of e-commerce marketplaces, Pos Malaysia has pivoted from a mail
company that also delivers parcels, to a parcel delivery company that also
delivers mails.
2019
Pos Malaysia’s Integrated Parcel Centre (IPC) is Shah Alam was upgraded with an
increased processing capacity from 112,000 to 300,000 items a day.
Today
Pos Malaysia is the national courier service provider and sole licensee for
universal postal services in the country, delivering to more than 10 million
addresses across the nation.
1800s
The history of Pos Malaysia traces back to the early 1800s with the
establishment of postal services in the Straits Settlements in Penang, Malacca
and Singapore.
1800s
Postal service is the second oldest establishment in the country, after the
police force. Back in the days, the common mode of transport for postal delivery
included bicycles, boats and even horses.
1957
Upon the independence of Malaysia,Jabatan Perkhidmatan Pos or Postal Services
Department was established as a government agency.
1976
The Postal Services Department implemented the postcode system and letters were
grouped and sorted manually.
1980s
As a steward of trust, rain or shine, postmen endure multiple challenges to
connect lives and businesses by ensuring letters and parcels are delivered to
the right destination, safely.
