“THEY SAID HE HAD A LIGHT MUSTACHE”: SCHOOL INFORMS MOM ABOUT A “STRANGE MAN”
PICKING UP HER DAUGHTER WITHOUT REALIZING IT WAS HER WITHOUT A WIG INTERVIEW

Žygimantas Snarskis and
Monika Pašukonytė

Mistaking people for somebody else is a natural occurrence that pretty much
happens all the time. There’s no shame in making such a mistake, unless,
however, it is a major mixup. In that case, an apology, as well as being more
careful, is probably a good idea. That is especially true if you mistake
somebody for an entirely different kind of person.

In today’s story, we are going to have a look at one such occurrence, taken to
the extreme. In a nutshell, a woman picking up her daughter from school was
mistaken for a “strange man” because she wasn’t wearing her wig. Scroll down for
more!

More info: TikTok

THIS WOMAN RECEIVED A HARROWING PHONE CALL FROM HER SCHOOL, BUT THE SITUATION
WASN’T WHAT IT SEEMED TO BE

A woman went to TikTok to share a story where she was mistaken for a “strange
man” by her daughter’s school. She talks about the situation for the whole
video, but only reveals that the “strange man” was her in the very last few
seconds of the video, leaving audiences in shock.

THIS WOMAN HAS BEEN TOLD OVER THE PHONE BY HER DAUGHTER’S SCHOOL THAT A “STRANGE
MAN” HAS BEEN PICKING HER DAUGHTER UP AFTER CLASS

The woman was told that a “strange man” had been picking up her daughter from
school, and it wasn’t her dad. This in itself is terrifying, which is why it is
understandable that the woman’s reaction was so intense.

In an interview with Bored Panda, the woman said that at the time of uploading
the video she was having a really bad day. “I’m a stroke and a heart attack
survivor so I’ve been going through therapy and it has been really exhausting.
And so I looked at myself in the mirror and was just kind of frustrated about my
appearance and just felt like I’ve been letting myself go,” she explained.

IT TURNS OUT THAT THE “STRANGE MAN” WAS, IN FACT, THE WOMAN WITHOUT HER WIG

The school provided a description of “the man”, which shocked the woman even
more. But after they sent a photo over to her, it appears that it was the woman
all along, but without her wig.

The woman said she was really surprised to see the video go viral. “At that time
I didn’t know what virality was, I didn’t know what it meant. So to see so many
millions of people really intrigued and being able to bring them a laugh based
on my pain, the feeling was amazing,” she said. The woman was glad that people
could find humor out of the situation.

THE COMMENTATORS WERE KEPT IN SUSPENSE AS THEY WATCHED THE VIDEO, BUT RECEIVED
RELIEF IN THE FORM OF LAUGHTER AT THE END

All in all, this story was one peculiar and suspenseful ride. The video went
very much viral with 1.4M likes and prompted over 30k commentators to express
their surprise at the plot twist in the end. What did you think about the video
and the story? Leave a comment in the section below the article!

And shouldn’t the school challenge “him” day one, instead after many times? Or
phoning in “oh we have a pic of your child’s abductor, lucky you”!?!

Is that the daughter in the pick on the right? She looks like she ~16. They
don't hand you off to a guardian at that age.

My presumption was that she and dad aren't together, so she was wondering if
someone other than dad was going in his place. You know... "I thought YOU picked

I'd like to ask how they didn't recognize her, but I've been utterly bamboozled
and did not recognize my own sister on two occasions because of her hair. One
time I was little and our aunt had given her a treatment with pipe-cleaners
overnight, she came into the room with a headfull of bushy curls, the other time
she wore a wig for Halloween, and both times I looked straight at her face and
my brain needed about a minute to accept it was her.

It's beyond me. I would have almost immediately thought but I've been picking
her up, what on earth are you saying? As for the description. Disgusting. They
all need glasses.

There are a lot of scenarios where she might not be picking her up 5x/week. Dad,
sports, going to a friend's, taking the bus some days... This feels too humble
to be a lie and I applaud her sharing it with the world!

But she said herself that SHE had been picking her daughter up every day. So how
could think someone else was picking her up? That's the point.

I think the shock of them telling her that a strange man had been picking up her
daughter momentarily took away her common sense... then after a minute or two
she probably had the 'duh... wait a minute... I pick her up... realization. I
can see me doing that Lol

She probably thought the daughter was leaving and coming back before pickup. I
use to do that sometimes when my parents dropped me off at school, or if they
thought I was riding the bus, I'd ride the bus to school, skip school and then
come back in time to get on the bus back home.

My niece's elementary school lost her TWICE and also a special ed kid once. They
didn't alert the police any of the times until it was well past 5. One of the
times my niece went missing she was picked up by her paternal grandfather, who
was also on the DO NOT PICK UP list. His writing was illegible in the log and
they didn't ask for ID so he could have been anyone. Her dad picked her up the
second time, didn't sign her out, and his phone either died or ran out of
minutes. These events happened before and after the special needs kid. They had
wondered into the corn field next to the school and was found walking along the
highway by a kind trucker. They never took initiative to figure anything out and
waited until the parents found their own child or called the police. I have no
idea how the principal kept her job...

That's absolutely dreadful! I'm fairly sure that here (Germany) that would be
classed as negligence on the part of the school, maybe gross negligence. It's
shocking that nothing happened.

It is crazy how much this happens. They just do not care and say they are "too
busy" to pay attention to every kid.

They need not expect more funding then. If they don't even pretend to care, why
should the school expect more?

People can be so "well meaning" . My Mom got a call once from a "concerned
friend" about my Dad driving around multiple times with a good looking young
woman in the passenger seat. First, so what? It's driving... he's not allowed to
meet females? Why would any contact with the opposite sex automatically mean an
affair? Second, it was me, at 14, being picked up from high school if he was
around my school when I was let out. Third, and this was well known by the
"friend" : my father is a taxi driver.

That's the point.

effect, haha
