Some say Vague Houses are not of this world. Others say they're simply talented musicians who found a way to tap into the power of music. Watch THE STORY IN A FAR AWAY LAND TWO MUSICIANS DREAMED OF CREATING A NEW SOUND… They worked day and night, mixing and blending sounds from all over the world. They called their new sound: Vague Houses. The reality behind the myth that is Vague Houses begins with Shropshire born Simon Melia and Guatemala born, and Amsterdam raised, Armando Ruiz (aka Professor Dictabeat), being raised on a musical diet of Breakbeat artists like Adam Freeland, Rennie Pilgrem, The Plump Djs, Soul of Man, The Freestylers and DJ Hyper. Of course it’s impossible not to mention such giants as The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers within the same breath. Techno, House and Electro played a huge part in their upbringing also with DJ Stingray 303, DJ Assualt, Richie Hawtin , Underground Resistance, Laurent Garnier, Dave Clark, Luke Slater and many more forming their early musical tastes. Many newer names such as HAAI, Bicep, Kessler and Octo Octa, to name but a few, have played a recent part in their influences, when sat in their Amsterdam and Berlin studios, where they are now based. How can one forget the hazy Amsterdam coffeeshop influence of music from labels like Ninja Tune and a host of Funk, Northern Soul and Hip Hop records that have infiltrated their eardrums and embedded the sound within their neurotransmitters. In recent times Drum n Bass, Jungle and UK Garage have ridden the brain waves and into the psyche, particularly that of Simon, who has found himself on the dancefloor melting into a sweaty mess, whilst musing on the production levels of basslines, at the weekly Amsterdam club night ‘ Cheeky Monday ‘. Indie, Punk and Garage Rock haven’t even been mentioned, but Simon has devoured anything musical with a jagged edge and spat it out into an unrecognizable, yet still relevant, influence upon their sound…the sound of Vague Houses VAGUE HOUSES LIVE SHOWS CONSIST OF A SYNTHS, GUITARS, BASS STATIONS AND EFFECTS AND IS A FULLY INTEGRATED DANCEFLOOR EXPERIENCE. THE EMPHASIS IS ON THE CROWD CONNECTION THROUGH THE ARTISTS PERFORMANCE, THE LIGHTING AND, NOT FORGETTING, THE BASS!
