WAS THE STATE DEPARTMENT HIT BY A CYBERATTACK?

While a Fox News reporter said the Department of Defense Cyber Command has made
notifications of a breach involving a cyberattack on the State Department, a
knowledgeable source told Reuters that the State Department’s operations were
not disrupted at all. So reports CNBC.

The Fox News reporter said on Twitter that the breach was thought to have
happened in recent weeks, though when it was found, how big it may have been and
what risk remains are all unclear.

“For security reasons, we are not in a position to discuss the nature or scope
of any alleged cybersecurity incidents at this time,” a State Department
spokesperson told CNBC.
