VOL. XI | ISSUE 7 | DECEMBER 2023

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

As 2023 ends, we're still fighting wars and climate change, and yet there's much
to be grateful for. In Peter Brook's Mahabharata, when the, Yaksha questions
Yudhishthira, he asks what is inevitable for everyone? The standard answer of
course is sadness, दुःख. Brook's however gives this a twist and makes
Yudhishthira answer 'happiness'. And so it is for all of us heading towards a
new year, may happiness be inevitable for us all.

To add to that happiness, we bring you stellar literary pieces. Prashant
Shankaran's photo essay on the art and myth of Theyyam, Ramona Sen writes on
Christmas Feast, Gaurav Monga gives us an eclectic book recommendation, Sujit
Prasad curates 12 poems for each month of the year in translation, and much much
more.

Happy New Year folks, a hopeful 2024 to all of us.
