One is a Daughter of the American Revolution and a descendant of generations of American veterans; the other, the son of an African immigrant and a descendant of Congolese chieftains. One was a government watchdog; the other, a civil rights activist. Both had parents who were homeless for a while, and both graduated from Harvard Law School. Like you, they have suffered devastating loss and faced overwhelming challenges. Through it all, they’ve found victory over the hardships of life simply by choosing to Stand. Join Kelly, Niki, and their inspiring guests as they move beyond simply talking about issues and challenges, to exploring how to solve and overcome them. Together, we will build a movement of everyday Americans who courageously take a stand for freedom, truth, and a country led by “We the People.” MEET KELLY Kelly was born and raised in Alaska. Her parents were homeless for a while, but they fought their way into the working class. She was the first in her immediate family to pursue a college degree, and then went on to law school, where she met and married Niki. Together, they have five children. Kelly spent 17 years working in federal Inspector General offices exposing waste and abuse, and improving government for many agencies, including the FBI, CIA, Department of Justice, Department of Energy, Coast Guard, DHS, and the National Security community. She returned home to Alaska to serve as Commissioner of Administration, where she oversaw numerous state government operations — from union negotiations, to IT infrastructure, to the DMV, to contracting. She has extensive firsthand experience getting government bureaucracies to work for the People, not against them. Kelly also is an entrepreneur who has successfully launched her own small business and a community-based organization dedicated to promoting election integrity. MEET NIKI Niki was born in the Philippines and lived in Africa, South America, and Europe throughout his childhood. His father, an African immigrant and former political refugee, was born in a rural village in the Democratic Republic of the Congo; his mother was born to a middle-class family in Minnesota and grew up in the Midwest. Niki’s biracial heritage, multi-cultural upbringing, and experience living abroad have shaped his views on many of the important issues our nation and world face today. He is a graduate of Amherst College (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD), where he met and married his amazing wife, Kelly. His 20-year career has spanned both the private and public sectors, including government service at the federal, state, and local levels. He spent five years working in private practice and as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division. Later, he became an ordained minister, anti-human trafficking activist, and entrepreneur. In 2019, Niki moved with Kelly and their family to Alaska, her (and now his) home state, where he served as Assistant Commissioner for Alaska’s Department of Education & Early Development and as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the Municipality of Anchorage.
