LILA

I'm not going to apologise for my absence this time. There really is no point
because I'll probably go and do it again. Not that I mean to, of course .. but
that's life for you. You know how it is, it has a habit of getting in the way.

I have a new favourite knit to show you and even this has taken me a while to
finish, such are my days at the moment. This is Lila, by Carrie Bostik Hoge of
Madder, and I've just realised she is my first jumper knitted in the round. Both
Luka and Kaari were created on straight needles (wow, they haven't been used in
a while!) and the rest have all been cardigans. Oh, and there's the yarn I must
mention, too. Wowee, Swan's Island is just the most heavenly worsted ever.
Satisfyingly organic and feeling as blissful as cashmere, it is pure and undyed
85% merino, 15% alpaca goodness.

I loved seeing my Lila develop from a band of garter stitch to gorgeous garment,
which I'll need to wear as much as I can because Vancouver is positively
bursting with Spring life, sunshine and warmth right now. Details and heaps more
pics of Lila are on my Ravelry page, right here.

Well, what to do next? I'm contemplating getting the sewing machine out but as
far as knitting goes, let's see. In my favourites right now and contending for
the circulars are -

Whispers top
Saco Stripes linen tank
Lola shawl
Brisha shawl

And you? What are you planning for the Springtime? Knitting? Sewing? I'd love to
hear ..

Gorgeous Kate ... and thanks for the intro to the pattern, I've just added
it to my 'hope to knit' list.

I'm knitting a hat but can't decide which pattern of two ... I've had to
ask my blog readers to help!

Your knitting is as lovely as always.
With the weather already in the 80's here all my knitting is for Christmas
gifts, but I did pick up some cotton/wool blend to knit my own Textured
Shawl, I've admired yours so much.

I love the drape of your sweater, with the slightly higher front and lower
back. I've heard a lot about Swans Island yarn (and their blankets, of
course). I'm trying to be a little cheap about yarn right now, though, as
I'm supposed to be making my way through my stash.
It's sewing and knitting for me right now (and hopefully throughout the
year). I'm taking Cal Patch's Pattern Drafting course on Creativebug (so
there's a tunic coming up) and trying to find someone who has some worsted
weight cotton they want to swap so I can make Azami (a hoodie pattern from
Twist Collective). But really, I want to finally make the Merchant & Mills
     Trapeze dress...

That's a sweater to live in Kate. I would go for teh Whispers top next if
it were me as it would be perfect for spring weather. Good to see you back

Perfect. I am intrigued by the shaping. I thought you might have knit from
the top down but then realised you didn't. I shall have to go and have a
look at the pattern. It's finally autumn here so knitting seems feasible at
last but I still have the urge to sew.

That's such a pretty sweater...think you were right to mess around a bit
with the stich gauge. Hoping that lovely yarn does not pill. I might want
to try this design myself. I want to do some experimenting with short row
     shaping.

     Best wishes!

I think this is the most perfect jumper I have ever seen. The matching of
pattern to yarn and of course the beautiful knitting.
     Gorgeous!

Never apologize, at least not for blog absences...if we spent all our time
     blogging, we'd never be knitting.

I saw that sweater elsewhere, nice to know it comes out consistently well.

     Enjoy your spring!

Oh my, the sweater looks so beautiful on you! And I love your future
projects too. Besides a few samples, I'm knitting a Bressay Dress (by
Gudrun Johnston) for my upcoming Shetland trip.

I love this knit and have bought the pattern to get onto it as it's just my
style. I do love your fit much more than the look on the actual pattern,
which looks even a little shrunken. Fingers crossed I'll get a Harmony and
     Rosie fit!
