The HIKMA publishes articles on all kinds of topics concerning theology and religious education, on all learning places of Islamic religion as well as on the philosophy of science concerning religious education on a local and global scale. Two topics will be the center of attention, shaping the periodical’s profile: the integration of Islam in the European, particularly the German, school system and the discourse on Islamic religion and culture in the European context. At the same time, much emphasis is put on processes of integration and transformation of a Muslim minority in societies which are strongly influenced by Christianity and secularity and the repercussion of these processes. The guidelines of the journal arise from its objectives: a) Multi-perspective (both, the “inner” and the “outer” perspective) b) Platform for basic and empirical research c) Internationality d) Inter- and multi-disciplinarity All contributions to HIKMA are made subject to an anonymous peer-review process (the so-called blind-peer review). Contributions can only be considered when they conform to the usual academic standards.
