Statement on Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak for Regional Meetings
ACS continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation related to the spread of
COVID-19. We understand that concerns for health and safety, among other issues,
are affecting our members and potential meeting attendees. At present, regional
meetings are proceeding as planned. Any changes to the meeting will be
communicated to registered attendees and posted to the meeting website. If the
evolving situation affects your attendance plans, please consult the Regional
Meetings cancelation policy information about obtaining a refund. For the most
up-to-date information regarding the virus and travel advisories, please refer
to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, the U.S.
Department of State, and the World Health Organization.  For questions regarding
Regional Meetings, please contact reglmtgs@acs.org.

SERMACS Planning Committee Statement on COVID-19
As part of the SERMACS committee ensuring the health and safety is a priority
for our meeting attendees. In light of that and recent increases in the amount
of COVID-19 cases primarily due to the Delta variant - we want to make sure that
attendees are aware of the convention center policies expected to be in place at
the time of the SERMACS meeting:
 * Masks are mandatory for all employees in common public spaces and interacting
   with customers
 * Masks are currently 'recommended' for all customers and event attendees in
   public areas, with social distancing and additional spacing encouraged and
   all of cleaning / sanitation protocols remaining in effect. The matter of
   masks being 'recommended' versus 'required' is expected to change very
   quickly based on COVID-19 and Delta variant trends and any broader
   ordinance(s) issued by the City of Birmingham, County, and/or State.
 * We will continue to monitor the trajectory of the Delta variant through this
   week and coming weeks.

As a result, SERMACS 2021 committee is now requiring all attendees (vaccinated
and unvaccinated) at the SERMACS Regional Meeting to wear a face mask while in
the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) or while attending an
ACS-supported hosted/sponsored event or meeting affiliated with SERMACS 2021.

NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR DISCOUNTED ROOMS HAS PASSED AND THE BLOCK IS CURRENTLY
FULL. Sleeping room are available at the Sheraton and Westin. Please contact the
hotel directly to reserve a room at their normal rate.
