WELCOME TO
KALANGOS FOUNDATION

We aim to provide access to medical and surgical care for all children suffering
from congenital and acquired heart diseases who live in middle and low income
countries. Since 1998, more than 17’000 children were treated by the teams of
the “Kalangos Foundation” either in their own countries or in several medical
care units of Europe.

OUR PROJECTS

HUMANITARIAN MEDICAL CENTER

One of the ultimate goals of Kalangos Foundation over the last 20 years of
sustainable humanitarian medical activities in cardiac care was to contribute to
the creation of an International Humanitarian Medical Center in Istanbul.

The Balkan Society of Pediatric and Congenital Heart Diseases (BSPCHD) is
dedicated to advancing the field of pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular
surgery while fostering strong bonds among its members. Committed to promoting
international knowledge exchange within the Balkan region, our non-profit,
non-political organization stands to serve the public interest.

CHILDREN IN GREECE

In Greece, every year 800 to 1,000 children are born with congenital heart
diseases, of which one third, mainly newborns, need immediate heart surgery. 35%
of children in Greece are uninsured and their families cannot cover the huge
medical cost. Kalangos Foundation, with Professor Afksendiyos Kalangos and his
team, support Greek children suffering with congenital heart diseases by
responding with the offer of their work and with economical support, when
needed.

CHILDREN IN TURKEY

8 out of every 1000 children worldwide are born with congenital heart disease.
Most congenital heart diseases can be treated with surgical or interventional
methods, and most children can continue their lives similar to their peers after
treatment.
