Hatching and rearing our own chicks from eggs is an incredibly exciting and
rewarding process. There is nothing better than seeing our tiny chicks grow up
in the knowledge that they are getting the best possible life from start to
finish.

Our Free range eggs come from hens that have access to an outdoor range during
the day but are housed securely and comfortably in sheds at night. Our Organic
Eggs are laid by hens that are fed organically grown grain.

TRANSPORTATION

We transport our chickens in trailers. Our trailers have tarps that can be
pulled to prevent the loaded chickens from getting wet or cold. Our trailers
also have solid roofs that keep cold and rain off and provide shade during the
summer.

OUR HISTORY


OUR FAMILY HISTORY

The establishment of the Poultry (Umleqwa) chicken business started in 1982 with
my late Grandfather Taylor Gunguluza. He later left the baton to my late-fater
Mzikayise Gunguluza to run in 1996. My late-father passed the baton in 2014.
My late grandfather Taylor Gunguluza and late-father were the pioneers creating
markets all around the townships of Port Elizabeth.
The business is now more than 35 years running and still in continuation and in
even more demand. The markets grew immensily developing places like Njoli
Square, Kwa Ndokwenza market square and many more.


The Poultry (Umleqwa) business was motivated by the good relations developed by
my late grandfather and father who were fortunate owning a 1,5 hector
supermarket building in the heart of townships next to the great historic
Wolfson Rugby Stadium in KwaZakhele.
