Book Now Contact Us VIRTUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY IN ONTARIO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are your fees? Our fees are $160 for an individual session and $200 for a couples session. Many insurance plans offer coverage for mental health services such as counselling and therapy. We accept payment via credit card or e-transfer for your convenience. You will be provided with an invoice after each session, should you wish to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. How long are the therapy sessions? How often would we meet? Sessions are typically what’s called a “therapy hour” — that’s 50 minutes long. This leaves a buffer of about 10 minutes for the therapist to jot down any notes for your session next time or think about a potential plan. Sometimes, sessions can be up to 90 minutes on a case-by-case basis. The frequency of sessions varies for each client and their unique situation. Often, people will start out meeting once per week until progress is made, and then try spacing sessions out to twice per month or even once per month. Recommendations will be made based on your unique situation and re-assessed with you on an ongoing basis with your therapist. How long does therapy take? This really varies for each client and their unique situation. If you are dealing with a situational crisis that requires some immediate support but the crisis is not ongoing, you may need a few weeks to get through the “hurdle” and come out on the other side. On the other hand, if you are seeking therapy for something that has been in your life for many years (like a habit you struggle with or a challenging relationship), it will likely take at least 2-3 months to progress toward your goals. People will often continue therapy for up to a year. People will also often move in and out of therapy throughout the years as they deal with different changes and transitions in their lives. What is your cancellation policy? We strive to provide exceptional care while respecting the time of both our clients and therapists. If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide us with 48 hours notice. You can do this by contacting your therapist directly, calling us, or logging into your Jane account. Appointments that are cancelled with less than 48 hours notice will be subject to the full session fee. We understand that life can throw curveballs, and we’re willing to review individual cases where the fee might be waived. Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy? How do I know if it’s right for me? Online therapy can serve as a convenient, flexible, and accessible option for many people. Research supports that virtual therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy and may fit your lifestyle more easily. The ease and accessibility of the virtual option often make it easier for clients to show up and follow through on their appointments regardless of external factors such as traffic, weather conditions, or lack of childcare. If you are unsure whether virtual therapy could be helpful in your situation, we recommend reaching out to us for a free 15-minute consultation call where we can chat about your concerns and recommend whether virtual or in-person therapy would be most appropriate.
