       and its upcoming March 18th concert will be no exception! Music Director
       Osvaldo Mendoza’s ability to meld classic sounds with contemporary
       features wow’d and impressed concert goers at the December Holiday
       concert and the upcoming “An Irish Journey” tying in with St. Patrick’s
       day promises to offer a program as enchanting as the Irish countryside.
       In our March concert Coronado Philharmonia Orchestra will perform
       "Concerto for Highland Bagpipe and String Orchestra" featuring composer

       with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents FILM FORUM CORONADO,
       taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in
       the library's Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief
       introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often
       including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a
       scene’s mood or propel the story. March 1: Arrival (2016, 89 min) In
       conjunction with the 2023 Coronado Community READ Project Hail Mary by
       Andy Weir. Why are they here? Denis Villeneuve directed this hypnotic,
       visionary and mysterious tale of humanity’s first contact with alien

    1. Storytelling Institute: Learn the Art of Storytelling! Have you always
       enjoyed telling stories? Ever considered storytelling in front of an
       audience? The Storytelling Institute, a free six-week course presented by
       the Storytellers of San Diego, is open to everyone who would like to hone
       their skills in this ancient art form. The Institute culminates in a
       storytelling slot for each participant at the San Diego Storytelling
       Festival here at the Coronado Public Library on March 18. Registration is
       suggested (but not required, nor is attendance at every session). Please
       register for each session individually. Each session builds on the
       previous one, so consistent attendance is advised especially if you would
       like to perform at the San Diego Storytelling Festival culminating event.

    1. Poetry for the People This course will feature poems, both historic and
       contemporary, which enjoy iconic status. These poems, as well as their
       authors, are acknowledged as widely recognized and admired as having
       exceptional influence. All class members are encouraged to contribute
       their ideas and perceptions of the poems, enriching the discussions for
       everyone in attendance. Chuck Kamar received his Bachelor’s from Boston
       State and his Master’s from Boston University. He taught for 34 years in
       the Newton Public Schools, the last 20 of which at Newton North High
       School. In 1998 he won the Paul E. Elicker Award for Excellence in
       Teaching.
