I became a refugee and I experienced discrimination, physical bullying, social isolation, and rejection. It also motivated me. I earned a Ph.D. in Robotics and AI. I joined JPL and sent robots to Mars. I started a company that developed the navigation technology that now powers Roombas worldwide. I founded Moxie with the belief that technology can bring out the best in humans. I wanted to build a robot that would have ameliorated the kind of anxiety and mental stress I felt as a child.
