The Society of Georgia Archivists (SGA) was established in 1969 to foster a
community of archivists, librarians, historians, educators, and museum and
historical agency personnel in the state of Georgia and the southeast. SGA
fosters and supports the archival community by advocating for professionals,
collections, and repositories; encouraging diversity in the field; promoting
education and professional development; and advancing scholarly research and
innovation through the publication of our journal, Provenance.

SGA is dedicated to creating opportunities for students to learn more about the
field of archives by offering educational events, networking, and career
development activities. Membership in SGA also provides a solid connection to
information about current archival and historical trends and issues as well as
opportunities to associate with and learn from leading individuals in the field.

Membership for full-time students is only $10 annually. Benefits of membership
include discounted annual meeting and workshop fees, access to the SGA listserv
and online job postings, SGA's Mentoring Program, as well as subscriptions to

THE "COMFORT WOMEN" DEBATE

Posted by Admin On 3:18:00 PM 0 comments

While the plight of the so-called “comfort women” has long been seen as a Korean
issue, it is simultaneously a broader matter concerning historical justice,
human rights, and peace in East Asia. Three experts share information on how the
"comfort women’s" long struggle for justice has been received by the public in
Korea, China, and Japan. Participants will theorize possible resolutions that
could honor the victims, promote the value of human rights, and facilitate
cooperation among the three countries.

11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Student Center Peachtree

THE SKIN I'M IN: HEALING, REDEMPTION & ATONEMENT ACROSS THE SKIN COLOR DIVIDE™

In this powerfully transformative "keeping it real" dialogue, participants
discuss "colorism," as something to emerge from rather than a phenomenon to
continuously perpetrate. The knots in participants' stomachs are loosened as
they learn to reject the politics of hue and embrace their own unique array of
beauty in the face of society's distorted messaging. Facilitators: Chery D.
Cofield – Director of Inclusion & Engagement, Institute Diversity and Stephanie
Ray – Associate Dean/Director of Student Diversity Programs
