   What features were upgraded or added to the Squidtrainer V4?
   
   The new features on the Squidtrainer v4 is the added jimping on the bottom of
   handles for improved grip during manipulation for tricks like ladders., as
   well as upgraded the blade from a washer system to a bushing system.

 * 
   Why should I choose a Squidtrainer V4 over the Triton V2?
   
   The Squidtrainer V4 is our original flagship model that we have been
   developing since 2016. With the newest improvements, the Squidtrainer V4 is
   on a bushing system allowing for longer periods without maintenance, tighter
   tolerances, and smoother swing. Comparing it to the Triton V2, the
   Squidtrainer V4 has better balance and grip due to the jimping and milled
   texture on the handles.

   What’s the difference between a Squidtrainer V4 and Krake Raken Trainer V3?
   
   The Squidtrainer V4 features matte blasted handles with milled textures,
   weighted pins on the end of the handle for balance, and jimping for
   additional grip. Its blade profile closely resembles a tuning fork and will
   emit a ringing noise depending on the way the product is flipped. At its
   mid-ranged price, the Squidtrainer V4 offers a reliable everyday flipper on a
   bushing system. Meanwhile, the Krake Raken Trainer V3 features glossy handles
   with milled texture and jimping as well, but does not require weighted dowel
   pins. Its overall design closely resembles our Krake Raken Live Blade product
   and is recommended for those who plan on transitioning to our live blade
   product.

   What’s the difference between a Squidtrainer, Inked Squidtrainer, and Dual
   Tone Squidtrainer?
   
   Squidtrainer V4 is our base model product with a silver blade. Inked
   Squidtrainer V4 goes through a Diamond Like Coating process, which protects
   it against rust and corrosion. The Dual Tone Squidtrainer V4 features a
   machine groove after anodizing to provide a silver contrast on the handles.
   It also features polished pivots.

   What is a Ti-Mod Squidtrainer V4?
   
   A Ti-Mod Squidtrainer V4 offers a purely cosmetic upgrade with anodized
   titanium hardware and titanium dowel pins of a select color.

 * 
   What maintenance does my Squidtrainer V4 need?
   
   The Squidtrainer requires basic maintenance, such as reapplying loctite,
   lubricant, and cleaning the hardware every two weeks or as needed. If
   disassembled for cleaning, you’ll need to install new pivots to apply fresh
   loctite. Be sure to place the bushings in the same slots that they originally
   were in. Placing the bushings in the wrong slot will lead to tuning issues as
   each bushing is measured specifically for their slots. You can find all the
   tools required in our Balisong Maintenance Kit.
   
   The Squidtrainer, like all bushing products, can be fully tightened down
   rather than micro tuned in order to get the perfect swing. If you are unable
   to tune the product, we recommend sending in your product for warranty.

   How do I clean the slots on my Dual Tone handles?
   
   Metal erosion can occur as a result of environmental factors. It can be
   mitigated by rubbing metal polish in the channels.


DESCRIPTION

The Squidtrainer was the first balisong trainer to be produced by Squid
Industries.  Since its inception in 2015, we’ve integrated feedback from
flippers all around the world each year to make it the best flipper in its
class. 

The Squidtrainer V4 has undergone significant change since the first production
run in 2016. It features the following:

 * Integral channel handle design machined from 6061 T6511 aluminum alloy
 * Machined handle texture pattern and bead blast finish for better grip
 * Rounded handles and blade spine for enhanced comfort and durability
 * Precision ground heat treated 410 stainless blade for maximum smoothness,
   minimal handle play, and zero blade rub
 * Press-fit stainless steel rods installed into the ends of each handle for
   better feel and momentum

In November 2022, we unveiled the V4 which added the following upgrades:

 * 416 stainless steel bushings tuned to each blade for the best tolerances
 * Jimping added to the ends of each handle for increased grip and stability
